TPO – Although arrangements and recruitment have been made, the situation of having excess and shortage of teachers is still happening in Quang Tri province.
On August 24, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri Le Thi Huong said that up to now, the province has a total of 13,441 managers, teachers, employees, and contract workers. Of which, preschool has 4,280 people, primary school has 4,047 people, secondary school has 3,331 people, and high school has 1,783 people. Currently, the education and training sector of Quang Tri province is short of 341 teachers, employees, and managers. Not only is there a shortage of teachers, Quang Tri province also has a surplus of teachers, with the entire province currently having 62 surplus junior high school teachers. To address the surplus of teachers, in the 2023-2024 school year, 75 officials were transferred to other districts, 151 officials were transferred within the district, town, and city, and 147 officials were rotated and assigned to teach in inter-schools.
“In the last school year, the Department of Education and Training advised the People's Committees of the districts to basically arrange English and IT teachers to organize teaching according to the 2018 General Education Program, which has overcome the shortage of IT teachers in Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts. The Education sector regularly reviews the management staff to carry out the work of approving planning, rotation, appointment, and reappointment in accordance with the process, ensuring the quality of staff, promoting efficiency in management work,” said Ms. Le Thi Huong.
Preparing to enter the new school year 2024-2025, Vinh Linh district is still facing a shortage of teachers, specifically a shortage of 28 teachers at the primary level. According to Mr. Le Thanh Hai - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Linh district, in the last school year, to overcome the shortage of teachers, the unit had to mobilize all surplus lessons and organize inter-school teaching. In addition, it is necessary to arrange the division of labor to balance between subjects and contract teachers from outside. The lack of teachers means that the professional quality is not high when teaching has to be patchwork, teachers of this subject have to teach another subject. Without proper training, it is clear that the quality will not be guaranteed. To improve the quality of education, based on the assigned targets, Vinh Linh district is speeding up recruitment, but this new school year still cannot avoid the shortage of teachers and management staff.

Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam said that in order to create the best conditions for the new school year 2024-2025, the education sector of Quang Tri province needs to review and synthesize the current staffing situation of the department and the entire sector to have a strategy. It is necessary to be proactive in arranging and organizing the staff, teachers, and school employees to ensure reasonableness and science ; synchronous coordination between sectors and localities to rotate teachers, overcome the situation of local surplus and shortage.
