At 1:00 p.m. on October 12, receiving orders from superiors and requests from local authorities, Brigade 147 (Naval Region 1) sent more than 20 officers and soldiers of Battalion 472 to participate in fighting a forest fire in Zone 6, Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3 ( Yagi ), many forests in Quang Ninh were broken and felled. The dry weather made the vegetation easy to catch fire and spread quickly.
Officers and soldiers of Brigade 147, together with local forces and people, quickly used firefighting equipment and divided the area to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas.

By 4:00 p.m. the same day, the fire was extinguished, local forces were still monitoring to prevent the fire from breaking out again.
The fire area is about 3 hectares. The cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
Major Pham Viet Trung, Political Commissar of Battalion 472, Brigade 147, said: The unit's stationed area is near the local pine and acacia hills, where forest fires often occur. Therefore, natural disaster prevention and search and rescue are combat readiness tasks of the unit. The unit always maintains a force on duty, ensuring timely mobilization when ordered. The participation of officers and soldiers in fire fighting is highly appreciated by local authorities.
