Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online at 7:45 p.m. on September 10, Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong - Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee - said that on the morning of September 10, a terrible flash flood occurred in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district.
“The flash flood buried the entire Lang Nu village where 35 households and 128 people reside. Immediately after the incident, the province organized search and rescue forces.
As of 6pm today, we have preliminarily determined that there are more than 30 survivors and injured. The rest may be missing and the province is continuing to organize a search.
By 6 p.m., 15 bodies had been found. The province has mobilized forces and requested Military Region 2 to provide support in terms of personnel and equipment for search and rescue,” said Mr. Truong.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Bao - Secretary of Bao Yen District Party Committee - also just announced that the bodies of 16 victims of the flash flood in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune have been found.
"We have determined that there are still about 70 people missing in the flash flood," Mr. Bao added.
According to Mr. Bao, Bao Yen district authorities received news of a terrible flash flood in Lang Nu village at around 10:15 this morning (September 10).
Because the area where the flash flood occurred is far from the center, traffic is cut off, and communication is completely lost, so rescue work is facing many difficulties.
At around 2:00 p.m., forces arrived at the scene, rescued 10 victims, and found the bodies of 15 people.
In the evening, authorities found the body of another buried person.

According to initial information published by Lao Cai newspaper, local people said that this area had never experienced natural disasters, so when the landslide happened, they were completely surprised.
