At around 11 PM, smoke was seen rising from inside a locked woodworking shop on Le Van Xo Street, An Thoi Ward. Residents shouted and knocked on the door to alert others of the fire, but there was no one inside.
After 30 minutes, the fire intensified, engulfing the entire nearly 400 square meter woodworking shop, with a column of smoke rising dozens of meters into the air. Many people living in nearby houses had to move their belongings out of fear of the fire spreading.

The Can Tho City Police deployed nearly 10 specialized fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene. Because the wood workshop was located on a narrow street and contained many flammable materials, extinguishing the fire was difficult. It took two hours to bring the fire under control. The fire caused no casualties, but the entire workshop was destroyed, and two neighboring houses were scorched.
