This winter-spring crop, the Institute of Food Crops and Vegetable Crops implemented a model of organic commercial Seng Cu rice production with an area of 75 hectares in the communes of Co Bi (Binh Giang), Chi Minh (Tu Ky), Lac Long (Kinh Mon), Dong Lac and Chi Minh ward (Chi Linh city).
This is the fourth consecutive crop of Seng cu rice that the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants has deployed in Hai Duong under the topic "Building a model for organic commercial Seng cu rice production in Hai Duong province".
On the morning of May 28, the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants organized an evaluation of the Seng cu rice production model in Chi Minh commune (Tu Ky). Accordingly, the rice has strong plants, good resistance to pests and diseases, especially blast and leaf blight; the cotton density is from 200 - 220 cotton/ m2 , 40 cotton higher than the control variety Bac Thom No. 7. The yield of Seng cu rice this crop is estimated at 200 - 250 kg/sao.

Seng cu is a famous specialty rice variety of Muong Khuong district ( Lao Cai ), isolated and tested in many provinces and cities in the Red River Delta since 2015.
In the 2023 crop, the Seng cu rice variety was first brought by the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants to be tested in the above 5 communes and wards. Through each crop, this rice variety has shown good adaptation to the soil in the localities. The time from sowing to harvest in the crop is from 105 - 108 days, in the winter-spring crop is from 128 - 133 days.

Seng cu rice has larger and wider grains than the control variety Bac Thom No. 7, is sticky, and remains delicious throughout the season. Cultivated in an organic manner, this type of rice is of high quality, safe for the health of producers and consumers; helping farmers save about 30% on the cost of buying pesticides and fertilizers compared to traditional farming methods.
To reassure farmers in production, the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants has implemented a chain linkage from production to consumption. The price of fresh commercial Seng cu rice is purchased by businesses from 10,000 - 12,000 VND/kg, the price of dry rice is from 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg, 1,500 - 2,000 VND/kg higher than many other rice varieties.
