Camille Vasquez - one of Johnny Depp's lawyers in his trial with Amber Heard, still keeps in touch with the actor.
A year after the Virginia libel trial verdict in favor of her client Johnny Depp, Vasquez told People that she and others on their legal team, including Benjamin Chew, still text the 59-year-old actor "regularly."

"The last time I spoke to Depp on the phone was probably a few months ago, but we still text regularly. Our team texts and emails him, congratulating him on his success over the last year. He has a big birthday coming up, so I'm sure he'll celebrate by putting his leg up because as you've seen, the press has reported, unfortunately he broke his leg," said Vasquez.
Vasquez added that she and her colleagues plan to attend one of Johnny Depp's Hollywood Vampires performances in Boston later this summer.
“I’m very proud of the work we did, and it’s not just me; it’s a great team with most of our associates working their butts off to get the job done that we can get done. We’re such a team, still very united and caring for each other,” said Vasquez.

In December 2022, Depp's ex-wife, Amber Heard, 37, revealed that they had reached a settlement and both had dropped their appeals. She said of the "very difficult" decision: "This is not a concession."
As part of the settlement, Heard agreed to pay Depp $1 million, which his team said would be donated to charity.
"Amber Heard paid Johnny Depp. I want to be clear. The judgment is still in effect and will remain in effect for the rest of time. Johnny Depp will donate the money that Heard paid to a number of charities. The case is closed, and we couldn't be happier about that," Vasquez added.
Since Depp's trial a year ago, Camille Vasquez has continued to work on a number of high-profile cases, plus she signed a contract with NBC News as a legal analyst. Vasquez is currently investigating cases involving Sacramento Kings NBA player Richaun Holmes and Latin pop star Gloria Trevi. In February 2023, she helped "Yellowstone" star Q'orianka Kilcher win a court case. She also revealed that she is about to sign a contract to defend a famous heavyweight champion.

“I knew my life had changed,” Vasquez said looking back. “But I never dreamed it would be like this, that I would be representing some of the most amazing, interesting clients.”
"We've thought about it. Benjamin and I have joked that we should write a book together, maybe about the trial. I feel like my story is only half-written, there's still a lot of work to be done. While the trial is an important part of my career, the real story of who I am and my career path still has a lot to do," Vasquez confided.
In November 2022, it was reported that Johnny Depp was no longer dating Joelle Rich, the lawyer who represented him in his libel trial against The Sun in 2018.
A source confirmed to People that Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp (59) and London-based lawyer Joelle Rich (37) have "parted ways." The reason for the breakup was not disclosed.
