Observations at the pedestrian streets on the afternoon of November 3rd showed a large number of tourists , mainly international visitors, strolling along the dry streets to sightsee and take photos.
Less than two days after the water receded, while cleanup efforts were underway, the Hoai River rose again, causing some roads to be flooded once more.
Nevertheless, as is typical of the annual flooding, the people of Hoi An and the shops and restaurants still keep their lights on to welcome customers even amidst the splashing water.
On the afternoon of November 3rd, the central market in Hoi An was deeply flooded. Bach Dang, Le Loi, and Nguyen Phuc Chu streets were also submerged in water.
Only the main structure of the An Hoi bridge is visible above the water. Warning signs and authorities are present at flooded sections of the road to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
On streets like Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Tran Phu, and Phan Chu Trinh, Western tourists stroll around, admiring the old houses in a rather unusual setting.
Residents of Hoi An said that they had just finished cleaning up their houses and shops when the water rose again.
Nevertheless, to meet the sightseeing needs of visitors, on the streets in the dry areas, shops that had just cleaned up after the flood were already lighting up and putting up signs inviting visitors to come and explore.
