The 2025 University and College Admissions Application Fair is organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, with the support of Vingroup Corporation.

Note the important dates.

According to Ms. Pham Thanh Ha, Deputy Head of the Training Management Department at the Foreign Trade University, 2025 will be the first year that all university and college admission applications will be registered on the Ministry of Education and Training's common system after the high school graduation exam results are available. This will be the only official basis for universities to use in their admissions process.

Therefore, even if candidates have previously applied through various methods at different universities, the decision of admission still depends entirely on the official list of preferences registered on time on the ministry's system.

Ms. Ha believes that at this crucial stage, candidates need a clear strategy and choose their aspirations based on a genuine understanding of themselves and the field of study. Candidates should proactively review the programs they have researched, not just by looking at the name of the major, but also carefully consider the training model, learning path, career opportunities, and internationalization.

At the same time, thoroughly research the cutoff scores from previous years and how scores are converted between different admission methods of universities in 2025 to build a list of preferences that are both suitable and competitive.

"An important point to note is that candidates should prioritize their choices according to their own level of preference, without being influenced by high or low cutoff scores or the choices of friends. A wise decision at this time can open up a truly meaningful and suitable university journey," Ms. Ha said.

Remember to submit your supporting documents on time.

Mr. Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs at the University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), noted that candidates should pay special attention to the deadline for submitting application documents for each school, as each school has its own regulations and deadlines.

For the University of Economics and Law, the deadline for submitting supporting documents for online admission is July 10th, via the official website: https://dkxtdhcq.uel.edu.vn. The university does not accept applications via mail; all supporting documents such as language certificates, aptitude test results, etc., must be submitted online within the specified timeframe.

Besides registering their preferences on the Ministry's admissions portal from July 16th to 28th, candidates must absolutely not miss submitting supporting documents on the universities' own systems, if required by the admission method.

He noted that some schools still require submitting supporting documents in paper form, either in person or by mail. If candidates submit their documents to the wrong place, at the wrong time, or after the deadline, they will not receive priority points or will not be eligible for admission according to the registered method, leading to unfortunate disadvantages in the university admission process.

Associate Professor Huynh Thanh Hung, former acting rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, believes that candidates should make the most of all available admission opportunities, instead of relying solely on their high school graduation exam scores. Besides the exam results, candidates can also utilize other methods such as academic transcript review, aptitude test scores, international language certificates, or priority direct admission... to increase their chances of being admitted.

Mr. Hung noted a significant change in this year's admissions process: candidates no longer need to specify their preferred admission method when registering their preferences on the Ministry's system. They only need to select their desired major and university, and the system will automatically consider all the admission methods announced by that university, based on the data previously provided by the candidate, such as exam scores, supporting documents, certificates, etc.

In particular, even with the results of the high school graduation exam, candidates should consider making the most of the possible admission combinations formed from the four subjects they registered for. This is crucial to expanding their chances of admission. This is especially important for candidates who choose to take English when their predicted scores are low, as choosing the right combination can significantly impact their chances of admission.

Prepare questions for the advisory board.

According to Ms. Pham Thanh Ha, the 2025 University and College Admissions Application Fair, organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with other units in Hanoi on July 19th, will not only provide information but also offer a valuable opportunity for candidates and parents to directly interact with admissions experts, lecturers, and representatives from universities and colleges. These individuals will possess in-depth knowledge of each training program and can answer specific questions from each person.

To make the most of this event, according to Ms. Ha, candidates should approach it proactively with clear goals. Before the event, identify your concerns: choosing a major, choosing a university, or how to prioritize your applications. Prepare a set of key questions such as: What are the outstanding features of the training program? What are the internship and double major opportunities? What can I do and where can I work after graduation?

At the same time, candidates should also research the cutoff scores from previous years, the minimum quality assurance threshold for admission, and how to convert scores between different admission methods. This will help you determine your chances of admission and build a reasonable application strategy, combining your dream major with safe options according to the principle: Reach - Target - Safe.

Similarly, Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong suggested that to make the most of the opportunity for in-depth consultation, candidates should prepare information including their exam scores, grades on their academic transcripts, and any bonus points they are entitled to, to provide to the counselors during the event.

Based on each candidate's individual circumstances, teachers will advise on the most suitable admission method to increase their chances of acceptance. "When asking questions, candidates should inquire in detail about the major, job opportunities, suitable qualities needed, training duration, and tuition fees to have complete information when considering their choices."

For candidates with scores in the middle range, in addition to questions about their preferred major, they should also consider other majors in the same group that may have lower cut-off scores to apply for as an additional option. For example, a candidate applying for medicine could also apply for nursing as a safer option," Ms. Huong said.

Improve your chances of getting accepted.

Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong, Vice Rector of Dai Nam University, stated that after students receive their high school graduation exam scores, they will officially enter the crucial stage of registering their college application preferences. Therefore, students need to pay attention to important deadlines such as registering, adjusting, and supplementing their preferences on the system from July 16th to 28th, and the deadline for submitting application fees from July 29th to August 5th.

According to Ms. Huong, to increase their chances of admission, candidates should use multiple admission methods. When registering their preferences, candidates should place the option with the highest chance of admission as their first choice. In addition, candidates should refer to the 2025 score distribution, the previous years' cutoff scores of the universities they wish to apply to, and contact the universities directly for more accurate advice before submitting their preferences.
