Some iPhone users running iOS 26 recently noticed a notification on the lock screen showing an estimated time to charge to 80%. However, if a fast charger is not used, the device will display a "slow charger" status.

According to experts, this notification usually comes from users using low-wattage chargers or outdated charging cables. To achieve fast wired charging speeds, Apple recommends a charger with a wattage of 30W or higher along with a standard USB-C cable.

Newer iPhone models, including the iPhone 17, boast significantly larger battery capacities compared to devices from five years ago. Users who have just upgraded may not have had time to change to compatible accessories. For example, if still using a USB-A charger with a rectangular port, the maximum charging speed is only 7.5W. In this case, fully charging the battery may take more than 3 hours.

When combined with compatible accessories, iPhones support stable fast charging speeds of 20–30 W, allowing them to charge from 0% to 50% in under 30 minutes. Regarding brand, Apple states there is no significant difference. Any USB-C charger that supports Power Delivery will be able to provide high-speed charging.

With the iPhone 17, Apple also introduced the new Dynamic Charger, optimized for speed and power consumption. However, the difference compared to other options is not significant. Users can choose products from popular brands like Anker and Belkin at a lower cost while still ensuring quality.

Besides wired charging, users may also encounter a "slow charging" warning when using older Qi wireless chargers with a power output below 10W. To improve this, 9to5Mac recommends using genuine MagSafe accessories or chargers that support the Qi2 standard. Newer iPhone models now allow wireless charging at a maximum speed of 25W.

For example, Belkin's MagSafe charger supports 25W speeds and includes a charging dock for AirPods. Meanwhile, simpler charging docks can still achieve 15W, suitable for basic needs.
