'Ma da' breaks record, earns over 80 billion VND after first week in theater

According to the announcement from the producer and distributor Lotte Entertainment, Ma da has set several records for horror films in Vietnam since its premiere on August 16.

The total revenue of this film is 108.4 billion VND with the first week of release reaching 29.6 billion VND. Thus, in just the first week of release, Ghost has surpassed 80 billion VND, most likely breaking the revenue of Ghost Dog to become the highest-grossing Vietnamese horror film.

Ghost is directed by Nguyen Huu Hoang, with the participation of Viet Huong, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, Trung Dan, singer Cam Ly, Da Chuc, Dieu Duc, Minh Khang... The content revolves around the story of Mrs. Le (Viet Huong), a single mother, who works as a corpse collector on the river and bears the "karma" that leads to her only daughter, Nhung (Da Chuc), being taken by the ghost to take her place.
