A home built on the bonds of comradeship.

Having lived for many years in an old, dilapidated mud-walled house, Ms. Phan Thi Hoa Huong Duong never imagined her family could soon build a sturdy home. That dream has come true thanks to the "Comrade's House" model of the Party Committee of Tan Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company - where small contributions from Party members have become a lifeline for those in difficult circumstances.

In the kitchen of her new home, Ms. Phan Thi Hoa Huong Duong prepares the evening meal for her family. After many years living in a dilapidated mud-walled house, she has realized her dream of owning a home thanks to support from the "Comrade's House" model.

The day is over, no more worries about rain and wind.

Right next to Phan Thi Hoa Huong Duong's new house in Tan Hoa commune, the old mud-walled house remains. She hasn't torn it down. Every time she looks at that house, she remembers the years when she and her two children lived in constant anxiety. Her husband often worked far away, and she worked as a rubber plantation worker while taking care of her two young children. Heavy rains were the most worrying days for her.

"Every time it rains, I worry the house will collapse. When I go to work, all I can think about is the two kids at home," she said.

The old house, made of corrugated iron and makeshift walls, had been the home of Phan Thi Hoa Huong Duong and her two children for many years. Every rainy season, the worry about the house deteriorating weighed heavily on the mother's heart.

Joining Tan Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company in 2011, she started as a rubber tapping worker. Through her hard work, she was entrusted with the role of technical officer and was admitted to the Party in 2018.

But despite having a stable job, family life remained difficult. Income had to be prioritized for raising and educating two children, living expenses, and unexpected costs when the children were sick. Building a house was therefore always put on hold.

In 2023, she received 70 million VND in support from the "Comrade's House" model of the Party Committee of Tan Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company. With this support, along with the help of relatives, the new house was completed 7 years earlier than planned.

"Even after the house was finished, I couldn't sleep for a whole month. I kept thinking I was dreaming, afraid that when I woke up I would be back in my old house," she recalled.

It wasn't just her who was moved. Her mother, Ms. Le Thi Lien, also considered it the greatest joy for the family after years of watching her daughter struggle to make ends meet.

The bricks are built from sharing.

Ms. Huong Duong's story is one of the concrete results of the "Comrade's House" model implemented by the Party Committee of Tan Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company since 2021.

Unlike many support programs funded by the budget or through social mobilization, the "Comrade's House" fund is formed from the voluntary contributions of Party members throughout the entire Party organization. Each person, depending on their means, dedicates a portion of their income to the fund, supporting comrades who are facing housing difficulties.

Thanks to voluntary contributions from party members, the "Comrade's House" model has helped many disadvantaged families realize their dream of having a home.

According to the Party Committee of Tan Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company, the entire Party organization currently has 12 branches with 179 Party members. After 5 years of implementation, the model has raised approximately 246 million VND.

From this fund, the Party Committee supported the construction of two new houses and the renovation of two houses for Party members in difficult circumstances. Each new house received 70 million VND in support, and each house renovation received 30 million VND.

The amount is not large compared to the cost of building a complete house. But for working-class families with many burdens to bear, it is enough support to turn a distant dream into reality.

What's even more valuable is how the model is maintained. Those who contribute today may be the recipients of support tomorrow. Those who receive support then continue to contribute when their circumstances improve. This spirit of sharing is fostered within the Party organization itself, within the enterprise.

Mr. Duong Tan Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy General Director of Tan Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company, said that the implementation of the model not only aims to solve housing difficulties but also contributes to spreading the spirit of solidarity and mutual support among Party members.

Following Ms. Huong Duong, many other families have also received support from this fund to build or repair their homes. For Ms. Huong Duong, the new house is a great gift, but what she cherishes most is the affection the community has shown her.

Because behind the bricks, corrugated iron roofs, and new walls lies the collective effort of hundreds of party members, all sharing the same goal: ensuring their comrades are not left alone in the face of difficulties.

Looking back at her old house with its peeling walls, Ms. Phan Thi Hoa Huong Duong appreciates even more the sharing and support from her comrades and colleagues that helped her family realize their dream of owning a home.

And that's why the old mud-walled house is still kept next to the new one as a landmark on her journey forward. Every time she looks back, the woman named after the sunflower will find more motivation to continue moving forward, and she will be grateful for the support of her comrades and colleagues.
