Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai visited and presented gifts to families of meritorious individuals who received support for building new houses in Hoa Thanh commune.
A sturdy roof, deep bonds of affection.
The house of Mr. Vo Van Hung's family (Van Duc B hamlet, An Trach commune) has just been completed and handed over, bringing immeasurable joy to the family. As one of the exemplary families receiving preferential treatment, the house is not only a new home but also a place of honor for worshipping two Vietnamese Heroic Mothers: Mr. Hung's biological mother and his mother-in-law.
Mr. Vo Van Hung shared: “My family was in difficult circumstances, but thanks to the program to eliminate temporary housing, we received financial support for repairs. In addition, my son, who works abroad, sent money home, so our house was built more solidly. This rainy season, my family no longer worries about leaks or the house collapsing.”
Mr. Hung's family's joy is also the shared joy of 90 families of policy beneficiaries and meritorious individuals in An Trach commune, as each household received 35 million VND to repair their houses and 70 million VND to build new ones.
Mr. Vo Van Ho, a disabled veteran (category 3/4), shared: “More than 10 years ago, I received support to build a house of gratitude. This year, the house deteriorated, leaking during the rain and exposed to the sun. The local authorities promptly provided financial assistance to repair the house, and my family is deeply moved and grateful.”
Officials from An Trạch commune visited and encouraged the family of war invalid Võ Văn Hổ to check on the progress of their house repairs.
Ca Mau province has just announced the completion of its program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, with 9,671 houses repaired or rebuilt. Of these, 3,715 houses were provided to families of revolutionary veterans and martyrs (1,652 newly built and 2,063 repaired). With the concerted efforts of the entire political system, the cooperation of businesses, and the community, thousands of new houses have been erected, replacing the dilapidated and unstable ones. Joy erupted on the faces of the elderly soldiers and martyrs' relatives as they moved into their new, spacious, and sturdy homes. This is the most fitting reward for the silent sacrifices of these families who contributed to the revolution.
Completing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is a political commitment of the province. The former Ca Mau province completed the construction and repair of 4,400 out of 4,400 houses, with a total cost of nearly 236 billion VND. Of these, 1,157 houses (578 newly built and 579 repaired) were provided to support families of revolutionary veterans and relatives of martyrs.
Immediately after the province's merger, despite the overwhelming workload and slow allocation of funds, the communes and wards of the former Bac Lieu province promptly established Steering Committees and developed regulations, assigning tasks to each member responsible for each hamlet. In addition, the localities flexibly managed their finances and devoted all their efforts to completing the demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses for war veterans and martyrs on schedule, as a way of showing gratitude to those who contributed to the nation, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
Each new house built represents a heartfelt expression of gratitude to those who have dedicated their lives to their homeland and country.
The Ca Mau province has determined that completing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses does not mean that there will be no more temporary or dilapidated houses in the area, because the beneficiaries of the program are limited. Furthermore, given the complex weather patterns and the impact of climate change leading to subsidence, landslides, storms, and tornadoes causing damage to people's property and belongings, it is inevitable that some temporary, rickety houses will still remain. Therefore, the Ca Mau province will continue to direct the review and provide appropriate support policies to help households, including those with meritorious service, stabilize their lives.
From eliminating temporary housing to supporting livelihoods.
Although the journey of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province has not been long, it is sufficient to demonstrate the strength of solidarity, unity of will, and determination of action of the entire Party, army, and people. To continue promoting the positive spirit of the program, Ca Mau province is urgently implementing the project "Supporting livelihoods for poor households, near-poor households, policy beneficiary households with difficult circumstances, and ethnic minority households in the province, giai đoạn 2025-2027", so that people can truly "settle down and prosper" , rise out of poverty sustainably, and gradually become legitimately wealthy.
Once the basic needs are met, local authorities continue to assess living conditions and economic circumstances in order to provide appropriate livelihood support.
The new housing is the foundation for policy beneficiary families to build a brighter future. Mr. Huynh Van Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of An Trach commune, shared: “Once the roof is stable, we continue to direct the Fatherland Front and mass organizations to visit each household to understand their living conditions and economic situation... in order to provide appropriate livelihood support. We assign Party members and Party branches to mentor disadvantaged families. From there, we mobilize resources from businesses and philanthropists to purchase seedlings and livestock to support farming and livestock raising, helping people have a source of income and stabilize their lives.”
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai emphasized: It must be understood that livelihood support is not about giving a fish, but about giving a fishing rod. This will empower each citizen to become an active participant in economic development, transforming their own lives. He also called on all cadres, Party members, civil servants, union members, association members, youth, and the people of the province to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and kindness, actively contributing resources according to their capabilities to implement the Project and spreading these noble deeds to every hamlet, village, and household. This will awaken the spirit of self-reliance, avoiding a mentality of dependence and reliance. He stressed the importance of promptly highlighting exemplary individuals who have overcome difficulties and strived for success...
