Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (42 years old) had to seek help from doctors after a long time of not having children naturally. Because she focused on her research work, the woman got married at the age of 38, then she spent another 4 years studying for a doctorate in France.

At the age of 42, Ms. Hoa returned to Vietnam and started planning to have children at an age when many people are already mothers of two or three children. Ms. Hoa used many types of supplements, applied the method of calculating ovulation days, and had sex regularly, but still had no good news.

The couple went to the doctor to find out the cause. After many tests, the doctor informed that Hoa had no more eggs, the only way to get pregnant was to ask for eggs. The woman was shocked, not thinking that she would fall into this situation.

Dr. Phan Chi Thanh, Central Obstetrics Hospital, said that the ovaries are the most important reproductive organs of women, producing both sex hormones and eggs for the reproductive process.

Normally, women at puberty will have 300,000 - 400,000 eggs. Through the monthly menstrual cycle, the number of eggs and ovarian follicles will gradually decrease and run out at the age of 45 to 50.

The appropriate age to have children is from 20 to 35 years old, which is the stage when the ovaries are mature and function best, so the rate of producing good follicles is better, ensuring the health of mother and baby.

Nowadays, many women are late in getting married because they pursue their careers. It is becoming more common for women to get married after the age of 30.

Women are born with a certain number of eggs, and their egg reserves will gradually run out over time. Getting married too late also means that women's reproductive age is shortened, and the quality of eggs in older women will also be poor.

" Premature ovarian failure has become the second burden on women's fertility in the 4.0 era," said Dr. Thanh, adding that when ovarian reserve is reduced prematurely, some people go through menopause after 1-2 years, while some are lucky enough to last a few years.

In Vietnam, the number of young patients coming to the clinic and being diagnosed with ovarian failure is increasing. In the past 5 years, the number of patients aged 25-30 has increased significantly.

Dr. Thanh recommends that women should have a plan to check their eggs, especially the age of their ovaries. Knowing the health status of their ovaries, doctors will advise on a suitable pregnancy plan or recommend egg freezing.
