Man United win the most 'special' match of the season.

On the evening of May 17th, Man United defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2 at home in the 37th round of the English Premier League.

Both Manchester United and Nottingham Forest have achieved their objectives for this season. While the "Red Devils" secured their place in the 2026-2027 Champions League several rounds ago, Nottingham Forest are safe from relegation.

But that doesn't make the match at Old Trafford a mere formality.

Conversely, Man United still have individual goals to achieve. Bruno Fernandes currently has 19 assists and needs at least one more to equal the record of Thierry Henry (Arsenal 2002-2003) and Kevin De Bruyne (Man City 2019-2020).

This is Manchester United's final home game in the Premier League this season. Therefore, it's also Casemiro's farewell match for the "Red Devils" fans.

Casemiro joined Man United in 2022 from Real Madrid and has announced his departure from the Red Devils after the end of this season.

This was a controversial goal for Man United. Before Cunha scored, the ball clearly touched Ryan Mbeumo's hand. However, the referee still awarded the goal to Man United despite consulting VAR.

In the 76th minute, the moment the Man United fans had been waiting for finally arrived. Bruno Fernandes provided an assist for Mbeumo to tap the ball in, extending Man United's lead to 3-1.

Bruno Fernandes could have reached this milestone sooner if Mbeumo had capitalized on his assists. In the 78th minute, Morgan Gibbs-White scored to reduce the deficit to 2-3 for Nottingham.

But Man United continued to press forward aggressively in search of more goals. Bruno Fernandes was the most active, making determined runs forward. He was eager to add another assist to his Premier League history.

In the 81st minute, Old Trafford erupted as Casemiro left the pitch, making way for Mason Mount. He walked slowly, as if reluctant to leave the Old Trafford turf, amidst the applause of the fans. His teammates also came to shake his hand and say goodbye, while he tried to hold back his tears.

Ultimately, Man United won 3-2, a result that was a fitting gift for Casemiro. But Bruno Fernandes will have to try his best to create assists in matchday 38 to claim the title of top assist provider in a single Premier League season in history.
