According to information from the Department of Water Resources Management and Construction, prior to May 23, 2026, salinity levels at the Tu Cau pumping station ranged from 3.9 to 5.1‰; at the Cam Sa pumping station from 4.0 to 7.6‰; at the Vinh Dien pumping station from 2.1 to 3.5‰; and at the Thanh Quyt pumping station's suction basin from 0.3 to 2.3‰.
Based on relevant forecast information, the Department of Water Resources Management and Construction issued document No. 1294/TL-VHTT dated May 22, 2026, to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City, requesting them to focus on implementing solutions to prevent and combat drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion to ensure water resources for production in Da Nang City.

On May 24, 2026, the local authorities completed the welding of the temporary saltwater intrusion barrier on the Vinh Dien River. Along with the simultaneous implementation of solutions such as dredging, widening the canal, installing 5 PVC pipes D300 at the main canal of the Tu Cau pumping station, and organizing the pumping and discharge of saltwater from the Tu Cau pumping station into the Vinh Dien River, the saltwater intrusion situation in the area has shown positive improvements.
As of 7:00 AM on May 28, 2026, salinity levels in many areas continued to decrease significantly. Specifically, at the Vinh Dien pumping station, salinity ranged from approximately 0.4 to 0.54‰; at the Thanh Quyt pumping station, salinity was generally between 0.1 and 0.6‰; and at the Tu Cau pumping station, salinity was generally between 0.8 and 1.1‰, much lower than before the dam was repaired.
In addition, the dredging of the Vinh Dien, Lac Thanh, and La Tho rivers to increase water flow, supplement freshwater sources, and help push back saltwater intrusion in the affected localities is still being implemented. The synchronized implementation of these solutions has been effective in pushing back saltwater intrusion.
However, the Tu Cau area is still affected by saltwater intrusion, with salinity levels at the pumping station fluctuating around 0.8÷1.1‰. Other areas have not experienced drought, water shortage, flooding, or waterlogging.
