Over a financial dispute, the man kidnapped his friend's child.

On October 24th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Tam Ky City Police, Quang Nam province, announced that they have initiated a criminal case and indicted Nguyen Manh Tuan (born in 1991, residing in Cam Pho ward, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) for the crime of illegal detention.

According to the investigation results, in 2020, Nguyen Manh Tuan invested in a joint business venture with a woman named N. (residing in An My ward, Tam Ky city).

Since 2023, due to business losses, Tuan repeatedly contacted Ms. N. to resolve financial matters, but without success. Afterward, Tuan conceived the idea of ​​pressuring Ms. N. to meet him.

On October 7, 2024, Tuan prepared pepper spray and a screwdriver, then took a bus from Hoi An City to Tam Ky City. Upon arriving at Ms. N.'s clothing store on Hung Vuong Street, Tuan saw a female employee and Ms. N.'s son.

When he realized Ms. N. wasn't at the store, he immediately switched off the electricity, used pepper spray to scare the female employees out, and then locked the door from the inside with the intention of holding Ms. N.'s son hostage, putting pressure on the child's mother to come and talk to him.

Upon receiving a report from residents, the Tam Ky City Police deployed forces to the scene. At this time, Tuan was holding the child hostage with the intention of intimidating and preventing the authorities from entering.

After about 20 minutes of persuasion and negotiation by the police, Tuan decided to release the child.
