On October 24, the Investigation Police Agency of Tam Ky City Police, Quang Nam Province, announced that it had just initiated a case and prosecuted the defendant Nguyen Manh Tuan (born in 1991, residing in Cam Pho Ward, Hoi An City, Quang Nam) for the act of illegal detention.

According to the investigation results, in 2020, Nguyen Manh Tuan contributed capital to do business with a woman named N. (residing in An My ward, Tam Ky city).

Since 2023, due to business losses, Tuan has repeatedly contacted Ms. N. to resolve financial issues but failed. After that, Tuan came up with the idea of ​​pressuring Ms. N. to meet him.

On October 7, 2024, Tuan prepared pepper spray and a screwdriver and took a bus from Hoi An City to Tam Ky City. When he arrived at Ms. N's clothing store on Hung Vuong Street, Tuan saw a female employee and Ms. N's son.

When he knew that Ms. N. was not in the store, he immediately turned off the power, used pepper spray to scare the female employee to run outside, then locked the door from the inside with the intention of controlling Ms. N.'s son, putting pressure on the child's mother to come home to talk.

Immediately upon receiving the report from the people, Tam Ky City Police deployed forces to the scene. At this time, Tuan restrained the child with the intention of intimidating and preventing the police from breaking in.

After about 20 minutes of persuasion and lobbying by the police, Tuan decided to release the child.
