According to Fujirumors , the Fujifilm X100VI camera line made in Japan not only reached users on time, but was immediately sold out. Currently on the B&H website, this product is displayed with the status of "request assistance", meaning it is out of stock, and you need to contact directly for more information.
Nearly two weeks ago, Fujifilm moved production of several of its camera models, including the X100VI, X-T5, X-T50, and X-M5, from China to Japan. This move was to avoid high tariffs imposed by the US on goods. As a result, B&H Photo has relisted the Fujifilm models as made in Japan on its website, while marking the versions made in China as discontinued.
The distributor announced that the "Made in Japan" machines would ship within 7-14 days, including the X100VI. Fujirumors expressed skepticism about the feasibility of this time frame. However, many readers sent emails confirming that they had received the Japanese X100VI as scheduled, just 12 days after the listing.
The X100VI is a premium compact camera, launched in February 2024 at the X Summit Tokyo event. The appeal of the X100VI comes from the rare combination of retro design, film-like image quality, and the convenience of a compact camera that can be carried anywhere. This is the successor to the X100V, which was sold out globally in 2023–2024.
The X100V was originally assembled only in Japan, but not in sufficient quantities. The X100VI was later moved to China, with the Philippines joining the supply chain. The company’s US plant only makes inkjet printers and paper.
With the X100VI already in limited supply, the news of the camera being sold out within days only reinforces the camera’s status as a sought-after camera. Below the post, some users commented that the Chinese-made version was already in short supply. Therefore, it is not surprising that this new model is sold out.
