Numerous videos recorded and posted on social media show passengers standing on the plane's wings and sliding down emergency slides while the aircraft's engines are emitting thick smoke.
All passengers and crew disembarked the aircraft and were escorted to the terminal. Several people sustained minor injuries during the evacuation. "We thank the flight crew, the Denver team, and the first responders for their swift and decisive action, with the safety of everyone on board and on the ground being our top priority," the airline announced.
The FAA said it would investigate the incident, while Boeing declined to comment.
This is the latest incident involving aviation safety in the US recently. On January 29, an American Airlines passenger plane collided in mid-air with a military helicopter, killing 67 people.
