In addition to helping domestic farmers reduce their hardships, the machines made by Mr. Nguyen Quang Chi are also exported abroad, contributing to affirming the talent and intelligence of Vietnamese people.

As the youngest son in a family of five children, Mr. Chi often followed his father to plow land for hire for the people in the commune. His childhood was spent growing rice, and growing up with his parents' hardships in the scorching fields, which instilled in Mr. Chi a desire to find ways to help farmers reduce their hardship.

In 2004, Mr. Chi's family bought a combine harvester to provide services when the mechanization of fields in the district was gradually emerging. Realizing that mechanization of production was an inevitable trend, Mr. Chi decided to import combine harvesters to sell.

“Around 2007, foreign-made harvesters kept breaking down without spare parts, so I decided to buy machinery and equipment to produce spare parts myself. Seeing the available tools, I researched and assembled the first rice cart myself,” Mr. Chi said.

Agricultural tractors manufactured by Mr. Nguyen Quang Chi with a load capacity of 5 tons are exported abroad.

Realizing that the land in Tan Hiep as well as the provinces in the Mekong Delta have the characteristics of weak foundation and soft mud due to growing rice 3 crops/year, rice tractors made with rubber wheels are easily bogged down and difficult to move. So Mr. Chi found a way to overcome the disadvantages of rice tractors.

“Necessity is the mother of invention”, with the inquisitiveness and creativity of a farmer, Mr. Chi determined that only by replacing the rubber wheels with a track system with a wide ground contact surface could the tractor move smoothly on all terrains. With this improvement, Mr. Chi’s rice tractor is able to resist sinking when operating in muddy environments, especially in fields with weak foundations or flooded fields.

The rice tractor designed by Mr. Chi weighs 2.06 tons, has a load capacity of 5 tons, and a diesel engine with a capacity of 56kW/2,400 rpm/75HP. The mechanical gearbox with a gear shifting mechanism of 6 forward and 2 reverse helps the machine move flexibly. In particular, this tractor was improved by Mr. Chi to use a one-way hydraulic lifting system to help the agricultural tool automatically lift and lower when encountering obstacles. The machine has been inspected by the competent authority and certified to meet the international standard ISO 9001:2015. Mr. Chi is completing the procedures to register intellectual property rights for his product.

To satisfy his passion for creativity, Mr. Chi invested in a 6,500m2 mechanical workshop, at the same time invested in a manufacturing robot system, equipped with production technology imported from advanced countries in the world . Mr. Chi said he will focus on developing the domestic crawler tractor market, increasing the workshop's manufacturing capacity from 2 machines/day to 3 machines/day.

In early 2023, Mr. Nguyen Quang Chi's Hoang Giang Import-Export Trading Production Company Limited successfully exported 2 containers with 18 crawler tractors and tillers to the Philippines market according to the order. This is an improved agricultural tractor with 2-in-1 features, integrating two functions of transporting agricultural products and connecting agricultural tools to prepare the soil before sowing.

Mr. Chi said: “I installed a trenching rig, soil tilling, embankment building, and integrated many functions into the rice tractor so that farmers can do more work, saving more labor and costs. The machine is currently running experimentally in the field.”
