The "final" of La Liga 2024/25 was exciting right from the start, with Real Madrid actively choosing a fast playing style.
After just 3 minutes, a mistake by central defender Pau Cubarsi forced goalkeeper Szczesny to foul Kylian Mbappe and the referee pointed to the 11-meter mark.

The incident happened at 2 minutes and 46 seconds. This is the fastest penalty awarded since 1977 in a Clasico.
Mbappe himself converted a penalty to open the scoring at Montjuic – the third consecutive Clasico in which he scored.
The strike helped him equal Ivan Zamorano's record of 37 goals in his Real Madrid debut season – which had stood since 1992/93.
Not stopping there, in the 14th minute, Mbappe calmly handled Vinicius Junior's pass, with a right-footed shot that defeated Szczesny.
Thus, the French player officially set a record for the start in the 123-year history of Real Madrid: 38 goals after 53 official matches in all competitions.
In addition, Mbappe also owns the second fastest brace scored by a Real Madrid player at Barcelona .
The record for the fastest double belongs to Van Nistelrooy, scored in the first 12 minutes of the 2007 El Clasico at Camp Nou.

After Mbappe's double, Barca rose up with 4 consecutive goals. Eric Garcia shortened the score, Lamine Yamal equalized 2-2, Raphinha scored a double.
In previous El Clasico history, there have only been three times when the first half ended with at least six goals. The last time this happened was in 1943.
In the second half, Mbappe scored the third goal against Szczesny. He is the third Real Madrid player to score a hat-trick at Barca, after Puskas (1963, La Liga) and Karim Benzema (2023, Copa del Rey).
Mbappe became the first player to score two hat-tricks at Barca. He first did this while playing for PSG in 2021.
However, Mbappe's outstanding individual performance could not help Real Madrid gain a point. This reminded of the sadness of "Kiki" in the 2022 World Cup final, when he scored a hat-trick but France still had to watch Argentina lift the gold trophy.
Barca won 4-3 on aggregate, creating a 7-point gap with Real Madrid. Hansi Flick's team will be crowned champions in the midweek round next week if they beat Espanyol in the Catalunya derby (2:30 a.m. on May 16).
