The mother of artist Thuong Tin has passed away.

GĐXH - Thuong Tin's mother has passed away at the age of 90. The family is preparing for her funeral in her hometown.

Composer Tô Hiếu confirmed to Family & Society the sad news that Thương Tín's mother, Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Hương, had passed away at the age of 90.

"Tonight, Thanh Tung - Thuong Tin's son - and I will travel from Saigon back to our hometown to attend the funeral and accompany her on her final journey. A few days ago, I had the opportunity to visit Phan Rang, and at that time she was weak and dying, but she still tried to stay with her children and grandchildren until today."

"She passed away due to old age and weakness, without giving any instructions to her children and grandchildren, but I will always remember her words when Thuong Tin died: 'You go first, I will choose a day to follow you…' That saying has come true; she left this world at 10:15 AM on May 29, 2026. Farewell to her, the woman who gave birth to a legend of Vietnamese cinema," the musician shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong passed away six months after the late artist Thuong Tin's death in December 2025. Her family is currently preparing for her funeral in her hometown.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong was known as a hardworking woman who dedicated her entire life to caring for her family and children. She had nine children: besides Thuong Tin and two deceased sons, there were four daughters named Hanh, Hieu, Hien, and Thuan (two of whom live abroad) and two sons named Hiep and Binh. Although she was not involved in the arts, she was always an important source of emotional support for Thuong Tin.

The late artist Thuong Tin often spoke about his mother. When he faced health problems, Thuong Tin returned to Khanh Hoa to live with his family. At that time, his mother, Nguyen Thi Huong, took care of him.

Born in 1956 in Phan Rang, Thuong Tin was once a leading star of Vietnamese stage and film. He began pursuing art at the age of 13, graduating from the Saigon National School of Music and Drama, and was associated with many major theater troupes such as Cuu Long Giang and Kim Cuong. With over 100 stage roles and more than 200 films, he made his mark through classic works such as: The Upside Down Card Game, Saigon Commando, SBC, and The Battlefield Divided by Half a Moon,...

Having once stood at the pinnacle of fame, in his later years, Thuong Tin faced many difficulties and was cared for and supported by musician To Hieu at his private residence in Hoc Mon.

Towards the end of his life, Thuong Tin lived in the same village as his ex-wife, but they lost contact in late 2024 after their separation due to conflicts. During this time, Thuong Tin moved back to his hometown to live with his mother, did not see his daughter, and lived with constant remorse and longing for her.
