The Argentinian forward scored one goal and provided two assists against Toronto FC, helping Inter Miami quickly bounce back from their defeat in the Florida derby last week.
After losing 3-4 at home to Orlando City, Inter Miami entered their away game against Toronto FC with great determination. However, the pink-clad team only truly made a difference at the end of the first half thanks to a moment of brilliance from Rodrigo De Paul.
In the 45th minute, the Argentinian midfielder unleashed a spectacular volley from outside the penalty area after a free kick was blocked by the opposing wall, opening the scoring for Inter Miami.
In the second half, Messi's impact became even more pronounced. In the 56th minute, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner made a delicate one-touch pass to Luis Suarez, who broke through to score and make it 2-0. Late in the game, Emilio Aristizábal scored two consecutive goals for Toronto FC, putting Inter Miami through a tense 11-minute period of added time. Despite this, the visitors secured a 4-2 victory to claim their sixth win of the season and climb to second place in the MLS Eastern Conference, just one point behind Nashville.
