On the afternoon of June 13, the program to launch the model "Zero-dong crutches" was held at 108 Central Military Hospital.
Currently, the Institute of Trauma and Orthopedics, 108 Central Military Hospital admits and treats about 300 patients every day. Patients with lower limb injuries and joint surgery need support with crutches when moving. This group of patients needs to use crutches for 2-4 weeks, then recover and do not need to use crutches.
From the needs of trauma patients who have difficulty moving, the Social Work Department has built and implemented the model "Zero-dong crutches". This is a meaningful model for patients, supporting patients and their families mentally and financially.
Colonel Nguyen Tuan Quan, Head of Social Work Department, 108 Central Military Hospital said: "This is a model with great humanity for patients and their families who are being treated at 108 Central Military Hospital. Social workers will operate the process model, while medical staff in clinical departments will guide patients and their families through the process of borrowing and using crutches."
“For me, this model has practical meaning, supporting me as well as other patients in the process of moving, treating the disease, and recovering. I hope this model will be replicated in many hospitals,” patient T. shared.
The “Zero-cost Crutch” model was piloted at the Joint Surgery Department. This is the basis for the hospital to continue to replicate this model in other trauma departments of the Institute of Trauma and Orthopedics.
In addition to the “Zero-cost Crutches” model, during the year, the Social Work Department implemented the “Supporting Patients” model, maintaining health education activities for patients, their families, etc.
