For nearly a week now, domestic gold prices have been on an upward trend and have increased dramatically in recent days. Late on the afternoon of August 30, SJC gold bar prices were listed by brands such as DOJI , Bao Tin Minh Chau, and PNJ at 128.6-130.6 million VND/tael (buy-sell), an increase of 1.3-1.7 million VND/tael compared to the afternoon of August 29.

After a long period of little fluctuation, gold prices have tended to increase for nearly a week now.

The sharp increase in domestic gold prices is largely influenced by the world gold market. On August 30, on the Kitco floor, the price of this precious metal was listed at 3,448.7 USD/ounce, up more than 2% compared to last week. According to experts, the factor that caused the world gold price to increase this time was after the US Federal Reserve (Fed) revealed the possibility of reducing interest rates next September. Lower interest rates will weaken the USD price, but significantly increase the attractiveness of safe haven assets such as gold.

In Ha Tinh market, the price of 9999 gold on August 30 was listed at 11,340,000 VND/tael for selling and 11,260,000 VND/tael for buying. This price increased by 140,000 VND/tael compared to August 29 and increased by 230,000 VND/tael compared to August 28.

Since the beginning of the year, the gold market has experienced many "waves" of increase, reaching a record price of 11,800,000 VND/tael at the end of April 2025. After that, the gold price gradually decreased and remained stable at below 11 million VND/tael in the past 3 months.

Therefore, when the price of gold increased "by leaps and bounds" in the past few days, it continued to "create waves", making the market for this precious metal bustling again. Many people and investors took the opportunity to sell their gold reserves and investments to make a profit after many months of waiting and worrying. In addition, on social networking forums, many people also commented enthusiastically on the topic of increasing gold prices.

The sharp increase in price volatility has made the gold market more vibrant after many quiet months.

According to some gold and silver shops in Thanh Sen ward, despite the unfavorable rainy weather, yesterday (August 30), many people still went to the gold shops to buy and sell.

Ms. Bui Dieu Huyen - owner of Mai Xuan gold shop (Nguyen Cong Tru street, Thanh Sen ward) said: "The price of gold has increased in the past few days, so many customers who bought gold at a low price before have rushed to sell it to make a profit. Along with the sale, many people continue to buy gold with the expectation that the price will continue to increase. Following the market rhythm, the strong price fluctuations have also increased the number of customers, making the market more vibrant."

The increase in gold prices is an opportunity to take profits for many investors who have been "holding gold" before.

Not only making a profit, the increase in gold price has "relieved pressure" for many small investors, especially those who have "held gold" since previous peak periods.

Ms. Vu Thi Minh (Cam Binh commune) shared: “I bought 4 taels of gold in June 2025 at 11,040,000 VND/tael. Since then, the gold price has fluctuated slightly and remained low, I was a bit worried because I was afraid of losing money. In the past few days, I have seen the gold price increase again, I am happy because the gold I bought has made a profit. Yesterday morning, I saw the price skyrocket so I decided to sell it, earning 8.8 million VND. If the price drops tomorrow, I will consider buying it again, but if I keep it for a long time, I will worry because the price keeps fluctuating.”

Meanwhile, many investors still decided to continue waiting for higher prices. Ms. Mai Huong (Thanh Sen ward) shared: “I bought 2 taels of gold at the time of 11,150,000 VND/tael. For the past few months, the gold price has been hovering below the purchase price. I have waited for a long time and now I see it increasing again. However, the current price is not higher than when I bought it, the profit is not much so I have not sold yet. I will consider taking profit if the price continues to increase in the coming days.”
