Cua Nhuong fishing port meets the criteria of a level II fishing port according to the Law on Fisheries.

Cua Nhuong fishing port (Thien Cam commune) was started in early 2024 and completed, officially opened for use from November 20, 2025. The project has a total investment of 280 billion VND, built on a 5-hectare land area, meeting the criteria of a level II fishing port according to the Fisheries Law. The port is capable of receiving ships with a capacity of 150 to 400CV, with a capacity to receive about 100 ships per day and an estimated seafood output of 16,000 tons/year.

Ha Tinh announced the opening of the most modern fishing port in the Central region.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Huy Thanh, on behalf of the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee, signed the decision to announce the opening of Cua Nhuong Fishing Port (Thien Cam Commune). This is considered the most modern fishing port in the Central region.

The water area in front of the port is more than 11 hectares wide, designed according to the standards of a type II fishing port, ensuring safe and convenient entry and exit for ships in all operating conditions. In addition, many other important items have been invested synchronously such as: a 2,400 m² seafood reception area, embankment, sand-prevention dike, internal roads, dredging of the port channel and the area in front of the port... The synchronization in infrastructure not only meets the needs of anchoring and unloading seafood but is also an important foundation to improve the efficiency of output management and traceability.

Fishermen conveniently anchor at Cua Nhuong Fishing Port.

For local fishermen, the official opening of Cua Nhuong fishing port is a historic milestone after many years of anticipation. Previously, most boats had to anchor at Con Go fishing port. The fishing port is small, narrow and often silted up, making it difficult for boats to enter and exit, and is largely dependent on the tide.

Fisherman Tran Van Dung (Xuan Hai village, Thien Cam commune) shared: “We fishermen are very happy and excited when Cua Nhuong fishing port officially operates. From the wharf, the gathering area to the anchorage area, everything is spacious and convenient, so every time the boats return to the port, we feel very secure. The work of loading and unloading seafood is also much easier than before. Having a spacious and synchronized wharf like this, fishermen are more confident to continue to stick to the sea and go out to sea.”

Fresh seafood is purchased by traders at Cua Nhuong Fishing Port.

According to Mr. Dung, docking safely and quickly helps ships save a significant amount of time and fuel costs. Fishermen can take advantage of favorable weather to go out to sea more often, increasing the number of fishing trips per year. In particular, the new port is also a safe and secure place to avoid storms, helping people protect their property and lives when the sea is rough, thereby feeling secure to go out to sea for a long time.

The operation of Cua Nhuong fishing port has also contributed to improving the efficiency of seafood consumption and preservation. Fisherman Ho Van Hung (village 1, Cam Trung commune) shared: “We are very happy when the port is put into operation, because now after being caught, seafood is brought ashore quickly, well preserved and easily traded right at the port. Thanks to that, fishermen feel more secure on each trip at sea, focusing on exploitation work”.

The operation of Cua Nhuong Fishing Port helps Ha Tinh fishermen to exploit seafood conveniently.

Not only does it facilitate the docking of ships, the new port also helps the process of gathering and consuming seafood go more smoothly. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet - a trader at Cua Nhuong fishing port said: "When the port comes into operation, our work is much more convenient. The trading space is spacious and clean, the classification and control of seafood is done right at the port, helping the products to always be fresh. Buyers can also easily access and transact quickly, thanks to which the work becomes more rhythmic. In fact, all traders are happy because the port brings clear results to the local fishing industry."

In addition, the port’s operation also meets the increasingly stringent requirements for traceability of aquatic products, especially for export products. This is an important condition for the sustainable development of the marine industry in Cua Nhuong in particular and the Ha Tinh region in general, and for the effective implementation of regulations against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Infrastructure at Cua Nhuong Fishing Port is modernly invested.

For the fishing port to operate effectively, people in coastal communes expressed their wish that authorities regularly check, measure depth and dredge channels periodically, ensuring absolute safety for boats entering and exiting, avoiding the risk of running aground, especially during the rainy and stormy season.

"Our seagoing activities depend a lot on the estuary's waterways. Especially during monsoon or stormy seasons, shallow water makes it easy for large ships to run aground or hit obstacles at the bottom of the waterway, causing damage to vehicles and threatening lives. Therefore, we hope that competent authorities will pay attention to planning regular measurements and dredging to maintain the standard depth of the waterway. This will not only help ships enter and exit smoothly, ensuring absolute safety, but also help us feel more secure in developing the marine economy " - fisherman Nguyen Van Tuan (Cam Trung commune) shared.

Cua Nhuong fishing port contributes to the sustainable development of Ha Tinh's marine economy.

The official opening of Cua Nhuong fishing port not only brings joy and peace of mind to fishermen and traders but also opens an important step forward in the development of sustainable marine industries in the locality. With synchronous infrastructure, managed waterways, modern wharf areas, gathering and consuming seafood, the port is creating a solid foundation for an effective seafood exploitation - purchasing - transportation chain, contributing to increasing product value and people's income.

The operation of Cua Nhuong Fishing Port has completed the goal of building a modern, synchronous fishing port that meets the criteria of level II. This is a prerequisite to promote the development of Ha Tinh's marine economy, improve the capacity of exploiting, processing and consuming aquatic products, especially in the context of the locality's drastic implementation of solutions to combat IUU fishing. The Management Board is committed to closely coordinating with relevant units to operate the port professionally and effectively, ensuring safety for vessels and creating a vibrant trading environment, contributing to the sustainable development of the local fisheries sector.
