According to the Mekong Delta Tourism Association, tourism activities in the provinces in the region have developed well since the beginning of the year. In the past 6 months, the total number of visitors to the region reached over 35 million, an increase of 17.6% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors reached over 2 million, domestic visitors exceeded 33 million. The industry's total revenue reached about 53,800 billion VND, an increase of 54.5% over the same period in 2024.

Notably, local tourism associations have effectively coordinated with the government in implementing Resolution 82/NQ-CP of the Government on key tasks and solutions to accelerate, accelerate recovery, and develop tourism effectively and sustainably. At the same time, the work of evaluating, voting, recognizing and re-recognizing 29 typical tourist destinations has been promoted, bringing the total number of typical tourist destinations in the whole region to 63.

At the same time, tourism businesses have built and developed many new tours connecting provinces in the region, notably the "4-season garden" tour ( Tien Giang - Vinh Long - Can Tho); the "river and traditional craft village journey" tour (Sa Dec - Long Xuyen - Cai Rang). In addition, tourism businesses have coordinated to build eco-tourism routes associated with agricultural experiences...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Yen, Executive Director of Con En Eco-tourism Area (An Giang) said that the tourist area is designed in an open direction, harmoniously combining unique handmade architecture and natural landscape. Thanks to that, since officially welcoming guests in 2020, Con En has increasingly attracted tourists from inside and outside the region.

In particular, in 2024, Con En will be recognized as a typical tourist area of the Mekong Delta. In order not to disappoint and retain tourists, the unit constantly strives to improve and renew tourism products with green tourism products that are close to nature.

After merging with Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces, Can Tho city has a rich tourism ecosystem from sea, river, garden, floating market tourism to festivals, culture, cuisine, traditional craft villages; diverse types of trade services, entertainment, contributing to the strong development of the city's tourism.

Visiting tourist attractions in Nga Bay ward, Can Tho city, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao (a tourist from Dong Nai province) shared: The first time joining a tour in Nga Bay with her friends brought her very unique feelings. The gentle morning on the poetic river branches; visiting Thien An strawberry garden, visiting the historical site of the Joint Committee for the Southern Armistice and enjoying many specialties of the Western region. Ms. Thao was especially impressed when she set foot at the confluence of seven river branches - a place associated with the famous story "Love of a mat seller". Ms. Thao hopes that the tourism industry of Can Tho city will develop more tours connecting to Nga Bay, so that visitors can fully experience the beauty of the river region with the typical culture and humanity of the West.

The Mekong Delta Tourism Association needs to promptly review the tourism potential and strengths of localities after the merger to establish key tourism products; pay attention to developing specific tourism products; spread and promote the potential, cultural traditions, people of the Mekong Delta, typical tourism products, and typical tourist destinations.

At the same time, the Mekong Delta Tourism Association urgently reviews and completes the planning system compatible with the development space of new provinces and cities, thereby shaping tourist routes and destinations with the typical cultural identity of the region; building new tourism products, tourism stimulus programs; committing to product quality and reasonable prices, contributing to building a friendly image of the Mekong Delta, bringing many new experiences to domestic and international tourists.
