Milestone in organ transplant industry in Quang Ninh

(PLVN) - On May 20, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province held a ceremony to commend and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the first four kidney transplants in the area.

The success of these first kidney transplants has put Quang Ninh on the national organ transplant map, opening up new opportunities for kidney failure patients in the province. This is a high-level, specialized, and complex technique, which has been implemented at two hospitals in the province: Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital and the Provincial General Hospital.

At the conference, Mr. Pham Duc An - Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee praised and commended the outstanding achievements of the Quang Ninh Provincial Health Sector, especially the successful performance of 4 kidney transplants by the Provincial General Hospital and the Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital for the first time, marking an important step forward in mastering advanced techniques and raising the level of local medical expertise.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province emphasized that this is not only a professional success, but also has profound humanitarian significance, opening up life opportunities for hundreds of kidney failure patients in the area, significantly reducing costs and burdens on the upper-level health system.

Mr. Pham Duc An requested the health sector to continue to promote investment, improve the capacity to perform specialized techniques, gradually develop the field of organ transplantation, and master liver, heart, lung transplant techniques...; at the same time, strengthen cooperation with major domestic and international medical centers, striving to build Quang Ninh into a high-tech medical center of the region and the whole country.
