Sesko and Watkins are on MU's shortlist, as the club's leaders want to give Ruben Amorim the key player in the attack he desires.
With Aston Villa insisting they won't sell Watkins, the Manchester club have turned their attention to beating Newcastle to Sesko's signature.

United's recruitment director Christopher Vivell and negotiator Matt Hargreaves have flown to Germany to try to finalise the deal.
Vivell used to work for Red Bull, which owns Leipzig and Sesko's former club Salzburg. So he knows the 22-year-old, 1.95m-tall striker well.
In a recent interview, Vivell commented on the young Slovenian striker: "Benjamin Sesko is one of the top talents and can become a great player.
He is extremely quick, has great jumping ability and is strong in the air. Benjamin is a real goalscorer, mobile and technically good. He has all the qualities to become a great striker."
SunSport revealed that Sesko himself wants to move to Old Trafford rather than Tyneside - where Newcastle are targeting him to replace Isak.
Head coach Eddie Howe is increasingly worried about the prospect of missing out on Sesko, as MU rush into the race for his signature.
