MU advised to sell Fernandes

Former player Paul Parker believes Manchester United should sell Bruno Fernandes in the January 2025 transfer window.

Parker insists Fernandes doesn't suit Ruben Amorim's style of play and wants United to replace him with Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. United and Man City are both said to be chasing Baleba, while Brighton are demanding around £100m for the player to leave Amex.

"Bruno in this team is like a square stone trying to fit into a round hole," said Parker. "That's a big problem. The manager sees Bruno as a hero who will save United, but is that bad for the team? I don't think United can go forward with Bruno in the team. Kobbie Mainoo is the future."

Parker believes United need dynamism in the midfield area and the combination of Mainoo and Baleba would be very promising. "Someone who can get up and down and control the ball very well," Parker commented on Baleba. "He moves lightly. Baleba has impressive speed and composure. United should have recruited Baleba."

In the summer transfer window of 2025, Al Hilal made a huge offer worth 100 million pounds to recruit Fernandes, but the midfielder refused and decided to stay at Old Trafford. Coach Ruben Amorim also has no plans to let Fernandes leave.

Many people have said that if MU sold Fernandes, the money could be invested in other targets, such as Carlos Baleba. However, Fernandes still stayed and continued to show poor performance in important matches.
