VIMC organizes a workshop on applying digital transformation and artificial intelligence in ship management

On the afternoon of September 18, 2025, at the headquarters of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC), No. 1 Dao Duy Anh, Hanoi, the Workshop "Application of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in ship management" took place.

The event was attended by VIMC Deputy General Director Nguyen Ngoc Anh, VIMC Deputy General Director Le Quang Trung, representatives of specialized functional departments and member units, along with the direct and online participation of many domestic and foreign technology partners.

In his opening speech, Deputy General Director Nguyen Ngoc Anh emphasized the urgent role of digital transformation in the maritime transport industry, especially in the context of fuel costs accounting for a large proportion and increasingly stringent emission reduction requirements. This workshop is an opportunity for units to recognize the urgent need for digital transformation in ship management, and at the same time discuss new directions to improve operational efficiency.

Immediately after the opening session, representatives of the VIMC Maritime Transport Department introduced an overview of the Corporation's fleet and the need to apply new technology to fuel management. Next, domestic and foreign technology partners introduced and presented many advanced solutions and applications, focusing on fuel monitoring systems, decision support tools and artificial intelligence technology to improve ship management efficiency.

In addition to the presentations of technology experts, representatives of VIMC member units also shared experiences, practices and difficulties in applying smart management systems. Thereby, the parties discussed and proposed solutions to remove obstacles and build an implementation roadmap suitable to the specific conditions of each enterprise.

The workshop ended with a general discussion, focusing on selecting feasible solutions, ensuring that they are suitable for the technical and financial conditions of each unit. Concluding the workshop, Deputy General Director Nguyen Ngoc Anh directed the units to closely coordinate with technology partners to soon test and gradually replicate, thereby improving competitiveness, meeting the green and sustainable development goals of the Vietnamese maritime industry.
