Following the heat from the teaser trailer, recently “Red Rain” introduced to the audience a poster set with 10 characters: 7 young soldiers of Squad 1 of the Liberation Army, 3 representatives from the Saigon puppet army. Through the poster, viewers can somewhat feel the tense situation of the Quang Tri Citadel battlefield in 1972, because all the characters are portrayed with fierce and emotional demeanor.

The first character of Squad 1 is Cuong, an intellectual young man with many concerns and ideals, played by young actor Do Nhat Hoang. Right from the first seconds of the teaser trailer released earlier, Cuong was commented by the audience as the representative face of the patriotic young generation, daring to think, daring to do, ready to "put down the pen" and go to war. Before "Red Rain", Do Nhat Hoang had an impressive debut role as Phuc in the film adaptation "Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story". Coming to "Red Rain", this promises to be one of the memorable and turning point roles in Do Nhat Hoang's career.

Leading Cuong and his teammates in Squad 1 is the captain Ta (played by Phuong Nam). After the teaser trailer, Phuong Nam's character Ta made a strong impression on the audience with the line: "My squad includes the north, center, south, the whole country in battle". With the role of Ta, Phuong Nam will transform into the big brother, the spiritual pillar of Squad 1 in the fierce battlefield of the Ancient Citadel. From there, the character Ta becomes an equally important piece of the Squad.

Character Binh by Lam Thanh Nha.

After making a strong impression on the public through her outstanding film role as Will in “The Price of Happiness”, actress Lam Thanh Nha continues to show her versatility in acting when transforming into a completely new character - Binh in “Red Rain”. With experience in action scenes and diverse cinematic experience, Lam Thanh Nha’s image with a resolute gaze but hidden behind is a gentleness is expected to bring many emotions to the audience when it is predicted to portray other psychological aspects of the image of a soldier.

Among the members of Squad 1, Tu (played by Dinh Khang) is one of the faces that left many emotions through the newly released poster. With a pure expression, gentle eyes and a gentle smile while holding a small bird in his hand, despite the smoke and dust of bombs and bullets behind him, and mud and blood stains on his shirt, Tu appears as a symbol of peace and small dreams and aspirations in the midst of a fierce battlefield. Different from the tough, resilient appearance of his teammates, Tu's image evokes a sensitive soul, loves life, loves nature and always retains the purest part of youth.

Character Sen by actor Hoang Long.

The details that make actor Hoang Long's character Sen different from other characters in Squad 1 are his sharp eyes and the weapons he uses. Unlike the gentle, emotional image of Tu or the calm look of Cuong, Sen represents a spirit of bravery, toughness, uncompromising fighting, and skill in the fierce battlefield of the Citadel. Both the body and expression of Hoang Long - an actor who grew up at the Hanoi Drama Theater, promise to create eye-catching action scenes and breathtaking emotions in the film.

Nguyen Hung as Hai.

Before taking on the role of Hai in the project “Red Rain”, Nguyen Hung was known as a singer in the band MAYDAYs, the owner of the song “Miracle” and a prominent face in the short film “Wooden Fish”, which won the Best Short Film award at the 2024 Kite Awards. His appearance in “Red Rain” marks a remarkable transition from music to cinema, where he boldly tries his hand at a thorny role that requires a lot of inner depth. The actor’s character Hai is expected to be one of the emotional highlights of Squad 1 in the journey to retell the battle of the Citadel.

With “Red Rain”, actor Tran Gia Huy in the role of Tan enters a fierce war cinema space for the first time after TV roles such as “Divorced Status”, “No Time”, “Dusty Roads”, etc. Tan’s poster has a different facial expression compared to his comrades, his face is bewildered and startled but his hand still tightly grips the gun with a scene of fire and smoke behind. That image evokes the association of a true slice of the emotions of young soldiers, facing loss for the first time, with death always near.

Before entering the film industry, Steven Nguyen was known to the general public through a series of television series and web series such as: "Big Brother Bi Long", "Winter Sun", "Stolen Happiness", etc. For his first time on the big screen, the actor played the role of Quang, a member of the Saigon puppet government. On the official poster, Quang shows a tense gaze and cold expression, evoking the feeling of a multi-dimensional character with many internal conflicts. With a special character image, Steven Nguyen's character is expected to show a new color, contributing to increasing the drama of the story on the front line.

Unlike his comrade Quang, actor Minh Thuan's character Thai shows a cold, violent gaze, holding a knife in his hand, evoking a complex, even somewhat extreme inner self. This contrast implicitly depicts two types of people on the same front, highlighting the depth of the characters of the Saigon puppet government in Red Rain. After a series of projects such as: "Boss Mother", "Creaky Sun", "Southern Forest Land", the role of Thai is an opportunity for Minh Thuan to further explore his acting ability and make a new impression on the big screen audience.

The last member of the three representatives of the Saigon puppet government is Hoang, played by actor Luong Gia Huy. The actor's typical roles in the projects: "The Last Bullet", "The Lady", "Winter Sun" will be the premise for his performance in "Red Rain". Hoang's handsome face with sharp features and unpredictable gaze suggest a character that is not easy to grasp, always carrying his own calculations in the midst of a fierce battlefield.

“Red Rain” is a feature film about the revolutionary war with a script by writer Chu Lai. The film is inspired and fictionalized from the events of 81 days and nights in 1972 when the people, cadres and soldiers fought bravely and steadfastly to protect Quang Tri Citadel.

The film is directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen, produced by People's Army Cinema, and is scheduled to be released on August 22.
