The film Red Rain is produced by People's Army Cinema, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen, produced by Kieu Thanh Thu, and produced by Nguyen Tri Vien.
Inspired and fictionalized by the event of 81 days and nights of heroic fighting to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972 - one of the fiercest battles of the 20th century, "Red Rain" recreates a fiery period in which tens of thousands of elite young men "put down their pens" to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. With an area of about 25 hectares, Quang Tri Citadel had to endure 328 tons of bombs and bullets, each soldier had to endure on average more than 100 bombs, 200 artillery shells, more than 4,000 officers and soldiers heroically fell, most of them at a very young age.
Deputy Director of the Department of Propaganda, General Department of Politics , Vietnam People's Army Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy spoke at the program.
From those heroic memories, writer Chu Lai wrote the film script "Red Rain", a fictional work based on real historical events, deeply reflecting the silent sacrifices and noble ideals of generations of young people in the resistance war against the US to save the country. The story of the film revolves around Squad 1 at the Citadel front, where young soldiers, mostly students, met, fought together, loved, and were willing to sacrifice for their comrades and their homeland.
The film is a visual epic, a tribute to those who have dedicated their youth to the country, and an echo of love, faith and aspiration for unity in the souls of the Vietnamese people.

Sharing the meaning and message of the film and the reason for its creation, director, Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen said: "I was exposed to the script by writer Chu Lai around 2012 - 2013 and I will never forget that moment, I read it in one go and my tears could not stop falling. One detail that I could not hold back my tears even when the film was being filmed was when the soldiers crossed the river under enemy artillery fire, when struggling in the middle of the river, the soldiers could only call "mom, wife". Talking about the film at this time is still too early, but the film crew did not consider this just a film but a stick of incense to pay tribute to the fallen heroes. When filming in Quang Tri, the weather was harsh and it rained continuously, but the entire crew and the coordinating military agencies were not discouraged, all were determined to make the film no matter how difficult and arduous it was. More than a memory, It is an emotion that will follow us for the rest of our lives."
As a large-scale art project, "Red Rain" was invested in thoroughly and meticulously from content to technique, with elaborate scenes built in Quang Tri province, in which the main scene was filmed in Quang Tri town, along the historic Thach Han river. The Ancient Citadel was realistically recreated in terms of architectural form, battlefield terrain, trenches, tunnels, surgical stations, field airports, defensive fortifications, etc. Every detail from costumes, props, equipment, to the combat environment was meticulously and accurately restored, under the advice of veterans and historical witnesses, to bring a space that is both realistic and rich in emotion.

We believe that the film will not only be a milestone in the revolutionary war film genre but also strongly arouse national pride, ideals of life, patriotism, and the desire to contribute to today's generation in the work of propagating and educating revolutionary traditions, especially in the current social context, when the gap between generations is increasingly evident, and there is a growing interest in history and original values," said Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy.
