(Baohatinh.vn) - These days, many beekeepers in the mountainous commune of Vu Quang (Ha Tinh province) have begun to busy themselves with dividing their colonies, checking the quality of their honey, and harvesting early.

Vu Quang commune has many advantages for developing beekeeping for honey production. Along with investment in technology and expansion of scale, beekeeping in the locality is increasingly developing, bringing considerable income to the people. Currently, beekeepers are entering the main honey harvesting season.

The beehives are placed on the edge of the forest, in home gardens - places with abundant flowers for the bees to collect nectar.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu (Vu Quang commune) said: "When many bee species begin to bloom, it's also the time when my family gets busy dividing the bee colonies, checking the honeycombs, and harvesting early. Each beehive in our family is in harvest season and is expected to yield 15-20 liters of honey, equivalent to about 3-4 million VND."

Reportedly, Vu Quang commune currently has over 800 households raising bees with more than 5,000 colonies. The current price of honey ranges from... At 200-250 thousand VND per liter, it creates a stable source of income for beekeepers in the area.

Thanks to product branding, the market and prices of honey from Vu Quang commune have remained stable. Currently, the Vu Quang Beekeeping and Agricultural Services Cooperative Union operates under this model. It has over 400 members, many of whom have developed OCOP products such as Trieu Thu honey, An Phu honey, etc.

Ms. Pham Thi Thu - owner of Trieu Thu honey production facility (Vu Quang Beekeeping and Agricultural Services Cooperative Union) said: "At this time, beekeepers are busy with the regular inspection of beehives to choose the appropriate time to split the hive, harvest honey, and bottle it for the market." With approximately 100 hives, our facility expects to harvest around 200 liters of commercial honey, generating an income of about 40-50 million VND."

The shimmering honey, a crystallization of the bees' diligence and the farmers' nurturing care, is what beekeepers are eagerly awaiting a new, prosperous honey season.

In 2025, due to unfavorable weather conditions and natural disasters, honey production in the commune decreased significantly. This year, although the new season has just begun, many beekeeping households have achieved quite high honey yields, ranging from 12-20 liters per hive. Over the past period, the local government has implemented many policies to support beekeeping development, such as technical training and loan assistance. In addition, we have also worked alongside the people to enhance their products, such as connecting them to markets and supporting the development of OCOP (One Commune One Product) products.
