Lotus season at West Lake

This June, the lotus ponds and lakes around West Lake (Tay Ho District) are bustling with activity as people harvest and take photos with the flowers. The lotus grown here is the hundred-petaled lotus, with large blossoms of up to 100 petals and a rich fragrance that is unique to West Lake and cannot be found anywhere else.

Many lotus ponds, when in full bloom, attract large numbers of tourists who come to take photos and enjoy the scenery.

Having taken photos with lotus flowers in many places, Nguyen An Phuong (Tay Ho district) commented: "The lotus flowers here have more petals, bloom larger, and are more beautiful than in many other areas where I've taken photos. Besides that, they also plant lotuses of different colors here, giving us many beautiful photo opportunities."

Mr. Tran Trung Thanh (Quang An ward) shared: “Lotus flowers bloom continuously, so we have to harvest them every day to serve consumers and our family's tea-making business. Lotus flowers must be harvested at dawn, when the water surface is still slightly misty, to ensure freshness and preserve their flavor.”
