Gyokeres is priced at less than £60m. |
Arsenal have identified Gyokeres as their top target for the summer transfer window. Initially, Sporting Lisbon were adamant about their asking price, leading to lengthy negotiations. Arsenal and Sporting are said to have finally agreed a fee of £55.1m, plus around £8.7m in add-ons.
However, British media reports suggest Arsenal may pay less than the rumoured price. In fact, the Gunners will only pay £50.5m outright, saving around £5m from the original figure, with £7m in add-ons. This means the total deal value will be around £57.5m instead of £63.8m.
Portuguese regulations require clubs to make specific figures public through an official announcement, and once the deal is complete, the exact amount Arsenal will pay will be made public.
This is a smart move in the negotiation process for Arsenal, as Sporting previously asked for up to 87 million pounds for the Swedish striker. With a large saving from the initial price, Arsenal can invest more in other deals.
Before Gyokeres, Arsenal successfully signed Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera. Arsenal are determined to end their Premier League title drought, after three consecutive runners-up seasons.
