Muong La preserves ethnic cultures

Muong La was established on the basis of merging It Ong town and the communes of Nam Pam, Chieng San, Chieng Muon, Muong Trai and Pi Toong, with a population of over 32,700 people, including Thai, Mong, Kinh and La Ha ethnic groups, each with its own customs, practices and cultural features. The commune focuses on preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of ethnic groups, investing in synchronous cultural institutions, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people.

Determining that education on love for national culture must start from the young generation, schools in the commune focus on integrating traditional cultural education into lectures and extracurricular activities, helping students understand, appreciate and preserve national cultural values. Ms. Nguyen Thu Hoai, Head of the Pi Toong Secondary School's Youth Union, said: The school focuses on traditional education by integrating festivals, customs, folk games, folk songs and folk dances into subjects, extracurricular activities and flag-raising activities. Teachers encourage students to learn, collect and introduce the beauty of national culture. In particular, every Monday and on holidays and Tet, the school requires students to wear national costumes, contributing to arousing pride and awareness of preserving national identity. In addition, the school also promotes cultural and artistic movements, establishing clubs to help students practice and perform traditional dances and songs.

Lo Thi Minh Anh, a student of class 8A1, Pi Toong Secondary School, shared: Thanks to participating in extracurricular programs and competitions, we not only practice communication and behavioral skills but also understand more about our ethnic culture and appreciate and preserve traditional beauty.

If schools are the place to nurture, then each village is the place to nurture national culture. In Chieng Te village, Muong La commune, there are 147 households, 588 people, mainly Thai ethnic people. Cultural preservation is considered a common responsibility of the community. The identity of our ancestors is preserved in every house, item and daily activities. The village community cultural house displays traditional costumes, looms, baskets, baskets, woven baskets, musical instruments, bamboo, all of which are carefully collected and preserved.

Mr. Quang Van Trien, Party cell secretary and head of Chieng Te village, said: The village management board launched a movement to build a "National Cultural Corner" at the community cultural house, mobilizing people to contribute traditional artifacts. Thanks to the enthusiastic response, many valuable artifacts were displayed, creating a cultural space with strong identity, both educating the younger generation about their roots and being the pride of Chieng Te village.

To combine cultural preservation with tourism development, Muong La commune has implemented a policy to support the completion of cultural institutions; collect, preserve and restore festivals, costumes, musical instruments, and traditional production tools, contributing to preserving national identity and promoting local socio -economic development.

Ms. Ca Thi Thuy, Head of the Department of Culture and Society , said: The commune focuses on nurturing cultural core, effectively maintaining clubs and art troupes; advising the commune People's Committee to restore and preserve the Nang Han, Pang A festivals, and buffalo worship. Currently, the whole commune has more than 40 art troupes, 3 cultural preservation clubs, with more than 80 members, contributing to preserving the national cultural identity.

With the determination of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people, Muong La commune has both preserved traditional cultural values, improved spiritual life and exploited cultural potential to develop tourism.
