Muong Lay sets Vietnam record for density of traditional stilt houses

Muong Lay Town, Dien Bien Province has just been recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as "The town with the highest density of traditional stilt houses of the Thai ethnic group, the White Thai branch in Vietnam."

Currently, Muong Lay town has nearly 1,200 households with traditional stilt houses out of a total of nearly 3,200 households, with a density of about 10.58 houses/km², much higher than other localities with similar ethnic groups such as the White Thai.

The establishment of the Vietnam Record has deeply affirmed the value of the traditional stilt house of the White Thai people in Muong Lay town, not only as a place of residence, but also as a sacred cultural symbol, closely associated with the spiritual life of the community.

This is also an opportunity for Muong Lay town to promote its image, develop its potential for cultural and community tourism , and move towards sustainable development associated with preserving national identity./.
