According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, on May 26th, the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue continued to experience intense heat with temperatures generally ranging from 38-40 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some places. In Thanh Hoa, the scorching heat caused outdoor temperatures to rise rapidly, creating a muggy atmosphere. Traffic volume on the roads decreased significantly. On the burning hot roads, pedestrians were bundled up in sun-protective clothing, masks, glasses, and gloves to minimize the heat radiating onto their bodies. Under the scorching sun, the delivery drivers continue to move around to deliver orders on time. Their shirts are soaked with sweat, and their faces are flushed red from the heat.
Street vendors are also struggling in the harsh weather. On the streets, many wear conical hats, covering their faces, pushing their carts through the sun. "It's only the beginning of summer, but the sun is so intense that it's harder to work, and people easily get dehydrated. We have to wear fan-assisted jackets or find shade to avoid the heat," said Mr. Le Van Binh (54 years old).
On the construction site, groups of workers occasionally have to stop to rest and rehydrate. They say that working outdoors in temperatures that sometimes exceed 40 degrees Celsius is extremely difficult, but because of the burden of making a living, everyone has to endure it. Under the scorching sun, laborers continue to work tirelessly to make a living. Under the scorching sun exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, concrete workers must constantly use buckets of water to cool and clean the discharge area of the concrete mixer truck. The intense heat radiating from the asphalt road combined with the outdoor temperature makes the already strenuous manual labor even more difficult. In the salt-producing area of Hoa Loc commune, salt farmers still toil under the sun. Salt prices have fluctuated low for many years, only around 2,100 - 2,300 VND/kg. The work is arduous and the income is unstable, so nowadays few young people pursue the profession; only the elderly remain to work in the salt fields. According to forecasts, on May 26-27, the Northern Delta region, Phu Tho , and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue will continue to experience intense heat with maximum temperatures commonly ranging from 37-40 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some places. The meteorological agency predicts that the heatwave in the North is likely to last until around May 28 before gradually subsiding.
