According to the Daily Mail on June 18, US President Donald Trump met with senior officials in the Situation Room to discuss details of a potential US attack. The White House boss is said to have approved the plan to attack Iran but has not made a final decision.

President Trump added that he had run out of patience with Iran. "My patience is over. They (Iran) had 60 days...a lot of time. But they made a mistake," President Trump said.

Bloomberg reported that senior White House officials are preparing for the possibility of a US attack on Iran "in the coming days".

Some sources said: "The attack is likely to take place at the weekend".

However, the situation could still change, the report said.

Earlier in the day, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared that Tehran was not afraid of President Trump's "absurd words", flatly rejecting the White House boss's demand for "unconditional surrender" in the conflict with Israel.

Iran's supreme leader also affirmed that the country will never back down, warning that any US attack would cause irreparable consequences.
