My Hoa Hung has been recognized as an island commune belonging to An Giang province.

On the morning of April 8th, Vo Minh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of My Hoa Hung commune, announced that Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, had signed Decision No. 1285/QD-UBND recognizing My Hoa Hung commune as an island commune belonging to An Giang province.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of An Giang province recognized My Hoa Hung commune as an island commune from April 8, 2026. With its entire natural area being an islet, and its population residing on the islet, isolated from the mainland, and possessing conditions similar to an island, it meets the criteria to be recognized as an island commune.

My Hoa Hung commune has a natural land area of ​​19.64 km² , divided into 9 hamlets, with 6,223 households and 27,115 permanent residents (as of December 31, 2025). The commune has 860 hectares of agricultural land, divided into 8 production sub-regions with 295.5 hectares of rice cultivation; 77.5 hectares of vegetables and 129 hectares of fruit trees, the remainder being aquaculture and existing mixed gardens.

The recognition of My Hoa Hung as an island commune is of great significance, enabling the locality and its people to enjoy many preferential rights and contributing to the promotion of socio -economic development.
