The above information was published by the New York Times on February 2, citing sources from Iran. Accordingly, Iran's Supreme National Security Council held an emergency meeting this week to discuss the situation.
According to the source, after the meeting participants conveyed their plans to Khamenei, he responded with a clear order: avoid direct war with the US. At the same time, Iran is also preparing to respond if the US launches a retaliatory attack.
According to sources, the Iranian command has put all armed forces on high alert, activated missile defense systems and deployed ballistic missiles along the border with Iraq.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi declared: "We will not start any war, but if anyone wants to bully us, they will face a strong response."
The move came a day after CBS News quoted US officials as saying that Washington had approved a plan to conduct multi-day attacks targeting Iranian personnel and infrastructure in Iraq and Syria.
The strikes were in retaliation for a drone attack by the pro-Iran Iraqi Islamic Resistance group on the Tower 22 US military base in Jordan on January 28, which killed three soldiers and injured 34 others.
US officials said the timing of the strike would be determined by weather conditions. Washington wanted to carry out the strike when the weather was clear so as not to accidentally hit innocent civilians.
On the same day, Reuters news agency quoted four US officials as saying that the drone used to attack Tower 22 on January 28 was likely manufactured in Iran.
The above results are based on analysis of debris from the plane at the scene, but the US side did not disclose the name of this weapon.
