In 2024, although natural disasters and epidemics occurred continuously, greatly affecting agricultural and forestry production in the province, localities have strived to basically complete the socio -economic development targets in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector. The economic growth rate (GRDP) of the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector is estimated to increase by 3.53% compared to 2023, reaching 90.5% of the plan.
With the goal of striving for double-digit economic growth of 8.5% in 2025, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector needs to achieve a growth rate of 4.3% or higher, striving to reach 4.8%.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that to achieve this goal, the Department has directed its affiliated units and at the same time guided localities to focus on investment and development for industries and sectors to create breakthroughs to ensure growth and promote the advantages of each locality, focusing on developing medicinal herbs according to the value chain, developing pig farming and poultry and waterfowl farming; maintaining the achieved timber output in 2024 and increasing the exploitation of non-timber forest products such as star anise, cinnamon, etc.
In addition, stably develop the area of specialty crops, focusing on increasing the value from processing and consumption markets. Strongly develop livestock to serve the production of products, of which 30% of the output is processed into products such as smoked pork, dried pork, sausages. Implement well the work of afforestation, forest protection and development according to regulations.
Shifting agricultural production thinking to agricultural economic thinking. Developing circular, low-carbon crop cultivation. Promoting high-tech industrial livestock farming associated with brand building and development. Utilizing capital sources to continue investing in improving agricultural and rural infrastructure to adapt to climate change.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has also guided localities to develop detailed agricultural and forestry production plans for each crop of the year, specifically identifying advantageous crops and livestock to focus on investment and development; utilizing funding sources from National Target Programs and other legal capital sources to support production development, improve people's lives; actively speeding up the implementation of projects to support production development under National Target Programs in the province.
Proactively change the crop structure to suit production practices with the motto of not leaving land vacant. Continue to propagate and mobilize people to change production methods from small-scale, household scale to the form of linking cooperatives and cooperatives to facilitate the process of investment, care and consumption of products. Actively convert ineffective rice land to crops with higher economic value associated with linking and consuming products such as pumpkins, melons of all kinds, beans of all kinds, fruit trees, medicinal herbs, etc. At the same time, proactively implement plans to prevent and control diseases on crops and livestock; plans to prevent natural disasters.
According to the Spring Crop Production Plan recently approved by the Provincial People's Committee, the total area for planting grain crops is expected to reach 16,462 hectares; the total grain crop output is expected to reach 84,817 tons; the area for converting crop structure on rice land in 2025 is 25 hectares, continuing to maintain the converted area in 2018 - 2024 at 2,023 hectares.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the production of fresh meat strives to reach 15,382 tons (equivalent to the sale and slaughter of meat products after livestock farming including 11,198 cattle, 134,760 pigs, 9,683 goats and 1,642,975 poultry of all kinds). Aquatic product output reaches 1,194 tons.
On agricultural and forestry development, implementing protection contracts and supporting the protection of natural forests 271,804.94 ha, afforestation reached 3,500 ha, of which dispersed afforestation 500 ha, reforestation after exploitation and project programs 3,000 ha; forest care in 2022 - 2024 is 1,404.16 ha; annual timber output reaches 370,000 m3 .../.
