Naval Region 5 continues to strive, overcome all difficulties, improve training quality, and combat readiness.

On October 26, 1975, the Ministry of National Defense issued Decision No. 141 to establish Coastal Region 5 (the predecessor of today's Naval Region 5 Command).
Immediately after its establishment, Naval Region 5 quickly consolidated its organization, built its forces, actively trained and improved its qualifications and combat readiness, closely coordinated and cooperated with the forces of the Navy and Military Region 9 to crush the Khmer Rouge's plot to encroach on our country's waters; and participated in the southwestern border campaign on the sea.

In early 1979, implementing the Party's guidelines and policies and responding to the call of the Cambodian National Salvation Front, Naval Region 5 coordinated and coordinated with forces in the Navy to conduct the Ta Lon Sea Landing Campaign (from January 6 to January 10, 1979). This was the first sea landing campaign of our army.
In the combined arms formation as well as independent combat operations, Naval Region 5 successfully completed the task of protecting the landing formation, transporting troops for landing practice and organizing forces and means to attack and capture assigned targets, contributing to the victory of the Campaign, liberating land and 21 islands in the waters of Cambodia; destroying more than 1,200 enemy soldiers; capturing nearly 1,700 prisoners of war; sinking and burning many ships and combat canoes; capturing and destroying hundreds of enemy vehicles, weapons, and technical equipment...
At the end of the campaign, many collectives and individuals of Naval Region 5 were awarded medals and other noble titles by the Party and State.
The Ta Lon sea landing was carried out by the Navy as the core force, in which Naval Region 5 played a very important role.
The victory of the Ta Lon Sea Landing Campaign affirmed the correctness and creativity of the people's war policy, the talented leadership of the Party, the timely, correct and direct direction of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and directly the Party Committee and the Navy Command; it was a victory of military art in general and naval military art in particular.
It is a victory of political mettle, determination, courage, revolutionary vigilance, intelligence and creativity of the Navy soldiers; a clear demonstration of the foreign policy, viewpoint and guiding ideology of "helping friends is helping ourselves" of our Party and State.
Promoting the historical significance and lessons learned from the Victory of the Ta Lon Sea Landing Campaign, creatively, practically and specifically applying them to the unit's situation. Over the past years, the Party Committee and the Command of Naval Region 5 have thoroughly grasped the situation and tasks, resolutely and synchronously deployed many solutions, determined to build a clean and strong Party organization, a comprehensively strong unit that is "exemplary and exemplary".
In particular, focusing on improving the quality of training as a basis for improving the overall quality, combat readiness and combat strength is one of the fundamental tasks that is regularly given attention and importance. In particular, the unit focuses on the following basic contents:
First of all, the Region promotes dissemination and education to raise awareness among officers and soldiers about training and combat readiness tasks. In particular, it focuses on thoroughly disseminating the resolutions of the Central Military Commission, the Party Committee of the Service, and directives and orders from above on training and combat readiness. Every year, the Region Party Committee and Party Committees at all levels have developed specialized resolutions to lead the implementation of training tasks, specifically identifying policies and measures to improve combat readiness quality in line with the organization, force, means, and equipment of the unit, and the characteristics of the maritime situation, especially when the Region has developed its forces.
Lead and direct agencies and units to actively innovate forms and methods of dissemination and education suitable for each target group. Prioritize education to raise awareness of officers and soldiers about the situation, tasks, targets of combat, plots and tricks of hostile forces; attach importance to building political mettle, determination, sense of responsibility in training, practice, combat readiness, especially for forces directly managing and using new and modern weapons and technical equipment; small, scattered, long-term units operating at sea and on islands.
Second, well prepare for training and be ready for combat . Before entering training, the Region directs agencies and units to proactively do well in all aspects of preparation work in terms of materials, facilities, halls, training grounds, training grounds, teaching models, documents, lesson plans, training management registration books; well organize the training launch ceremony and launch the emulation movement to create a vibrant atmosphere right from the first day and first week of training.
The region closely follows the unit's core political tasks, the situation in the sea area, the stationed area, adjusts, supplements, and builds a new system of documents, plans, and short-term and long-term combat plans suitable for the existing organization, staffing, weapons, and equipment.

Third , focus on innovating training forms and methods, improving the quality of combat readiness work . Every year, before organizing training, the Region directs agencies and units to develop a system of plans, instructions, and training schedules; prepare and approve strict lesson plans according to decentralization; register statistics and report training according to regulations.
During the training process, the Region reduced the duration of theoretical training and increased the duration of practical training. Combine training on new content with experience transfer, ensuring closeness to the plan, combat objects, battlefield realities, and assigned weapons and equipment. Increase night training, training in bad weather conditions, and physical training. After mastering the training content, the training unit changes positions and numbers so that each officer and soldier can know and take on a number of other positions in combat to gradually bring the troops closer to the actual performance of tasks.
The Region strengthens the organization of drills according to plans; promotes the role of functional agencies in training management and operation; strictly maintains the inspection and evaluation regime of training results. After each training course, item, and stage, the Region organizes competitions and sports events at all levels, promptly encourages and rewards collectives and individuals with high achievements in training.
Along with innovating training forms and methods, the Region focuses on improving the quality of combat readiness work . In particular, the unit focuses on thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing documents and instructions from above on combat readiness work. Actively coordinate and cooperate with related units and forces, especially the Coast Guard, Border Guard, Air Defense - Air Force... to firmly manage and protect the sovereignty of assigned seas and islands.
Direct patrol, patrol and reconnaissance forces, grasp the situation in the air and at sea. Strictly maintain discipline, command duty, duty, combat readiness according to regulations; organize forces to practice proficiently the steps to change to combat readiness status, focusing on the Navy, ship units, and anti-aircraft artillery.
Fourth , promote internal resources, do a good job of ensuring technical and logistical support to improve the quality of training and combat readiness . The region proactively ensures adequate and synchronized weapons, technical equipment, ships and vehicles to serve training and combat readiness tasks. Implement technical work regimes and regulations in a disciplined and effective manner; combine preservation and maintenance with effective management and exploitation of weapons, equipment, vehicles, ships and vehicles... according to the content of the Campaign "Manage and exploit weapons and technical equipment well, durably, safely, economically and safely in traffic" ; focus on guiding measures to ensure food hygiene and safety and take care of soldiers' health; develop logistics support plans for forces on long-term missions at sea; promote the emulation movement "The Army's logistics sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings", contributing to improving the quality of training and combat readiness of the unit.
Fifth, promote the emulation movement in training and combat readiness tasks . The Party Committee, the Command, the Regional Emulation and Reward Council have closely followed the practical situation of tasks, emulation and reward work and the Emulation movement for Victory, actively, comprehensively, focusing on key points, creating changes in many aspects. Particularly in training and combat readiness, the Region launched an annual emulation movement, combined with peak emulation periods, raids in exercises, live ammunition firing, patrols, reconnaissance, and joint patrols.
On the other hand, improve the quality of propaganda and agitation work in training; promptly commend and reward groups and individuals who achieve high results in training. At the same time, closely combine the emulation movement for excellent training with emulation movements and campaigns of all levels and sectors, creating motivation and a vibrant competitive atmosphere throughout the unit, contributing to encouraging and motivating officers and soldiers to successfully complete their assigned tasks.
Faced with the increasingly high requirements of the task of building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern Navy and Naval Region 5, military and defense work in general, and training and combat readiness tasks in particular, must be further improved and increasingly put into practice.
Promoting the 45-year tradition of the Victory of the Ta Lon Sea Landing Campaign and the results achieved, Naval Region 5 continues to strive, overcome all difficulties, improve training quality, and combat readiness to meet requirements and tasks in the new situation, contributing to firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands in the Southwest of the Fatherland.
