Recently, the Ministry of Construction has proposed raising the income threshold for purchasing social housing to 20 million VND for singles and 40 million VND for households (2 spouses).
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with the proposals and recommendations of the Ministry of Construction on raising the income threshold for purchasing social housing in a more appropriate direction. At the same time, the Ministry of Construction was assigned to propose amendments to Decree 100/2024 regulating these contents in a simplified order. The maximum income level for purchasing social housing is currently VND15 million per month for single people and VND30 million for households.
However, according to some localities, this income level currently makes it difficult for many workers and experts with slightly higher incomes to access commercial housing and not enjoy social housing policies.
Vietnam aims to build at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the 2021-2030 period.
