From June 1-4, the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting stated that the hot low-pressure area in the west is tending to develop again, causing hot weather to quickly return to many areas.
Widespread heatwave is occurring in Northern Vietnam, with maximum temperatures commonly reaching 35-37 degrees Celsius. The heatwave is forecast to peak between June 5th and 7th, when temperatures in Hanoi and many areas of the Northern delta and midland regions will rise to 36-38 degrees Celsius. On June 8th, the region is likely to experience widespread rain, temporarily alleviating the heatwave.
Hanoi's temperature is forecast to range from 28-37 degrees Celsius during the first two days of the week, rising to 28-39 degrees Celsius on June 3rd.

In Central Vietnam, today the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue experienced widespread heatwaves. From June 1st, the heatwave area expanded from Thanh Hoa to the eastern part of Gia Lai province with temperatures commonly reaching 35-37 degrees Celsius.
From June 2nd to 8th, hot weather blanketed most of the central provinces. Maximum temperatures commonly ranged from 36-39 degrees Celsius, with many areas exceeding 39 degrees Celsius. The western mountainous region from Thanh Hoa to Hue continued to be the epicenter of the heatwave, with the possibility of temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the Central and Southern highlands continue to be affected by the southwest monsoon. After two days of moderate to heavy rain, the monsoon intensity gradually decreased from June 1st, resulting in less heavy rainfall. Nevertheless, showers and thunderstorms still occur in many areas in the afternoon and evening.
Thanks to consistent rainfall, the highest temperatures in the Central Highlands next week will range from 31-34 degrees Celsius, and in the South from 32-35 degrees Celsius, with no widespread heatwave expected.
Meteorological experts predict that after the heatwave at the beginning of June, the country may experience another 1-2 heatwaves this month, with temperatures commonly ranging from 36-39 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some areas.
The average temperature in June across the country is forecast to be about 0.5-1 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average, making heatwaves more intense than usual.
Meteorological agencies warn that prolonged heatwaves could increase the risk of heatstroke, heat exhaustion, wildfires, residential fires, and localized water shortages in some areas.
