Lien Hoa milk fruit productivity decreases, selling price increases

The price of star apple in Lien Hoa (Kim Thanh) this year increased compared to last year.

According to the Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Lien Hoa Commune (Kim Thanh), farmers in the commune are starting to harvest star apples. This year, star apple productivity is from 0.8 - 1 ton/sao, down about 20% compared to last year. However, the selling price is 5,000 - 10,000 VND/kg higher, reaching 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg. Star apple productivity has decreased due to unfavorable weather this year, affecting flowering and fruit setting.

Lien Hoa commune currently has 41 hectares of star apples concentrated in Thai Nguyen and Hung Hoa villages, of which 21 hectares have stable harvests; 15 hectares have fruit bearing, the rest are newly planted star apples. This type of tree will be harvested after 3 years, stable harvest after 5 years, and 10 years will yield 1-1.2 tons/sao/crop, with a planting density of 8 trees/sao. On average, people will earn a profit of about 20 million VND/sao/crop.

Due to the influence of weather, milk fruit productivity has decreased.

In recent years, star apple has been considered the main crop in Lien Hoa commune. The Commune Farmers' Association continues to encourage people to expand the area of star apple cultivation in mixed gardens and conversion areas because the tree has high economic value, requires little care, and produces scattered fruit without pressure on harvest time.
