Khanh Hoa: Searching for escaped crocodile that bit people in Cho River

On the afternoon of October 9, Mr. Le Van Hiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Lam Commune (Khanh Hoa Province) said that the authorities are urgently hunting for an escaped crocodile in the Cho River area, Xuan Trung village.

Earlier, on the morning of October 8, a resident wading in the Cho River area (near Suoi Sau B Bridge, Xuan Trung Village) was suddenly attacked by a crocodile on his arms and legs. The victim was lucky to escape and went to Khanh Binh Medical Station for first aid.

The incident has caused panic among local people. Immediately after receiving the information, the authorities of Dien Lam commune mobilized functional forces to hunt down the crocodile.

According to Mr. Le Van Hiep, in the past few days, the commune has had heavy rain, the river water has risen and flowed rapidly, making it difficult to catch the crocodile. After more than a day of searching, there have been no results. Initial information is that the crocodile weighs about 10kg, suspected to have escaped from a tourist area in the area. Currently, the eco-tourism area has hired a professional unit to track down and recapture the crocodile.

The authorities have warned people to limit their access to the Cho River, and not to fish, bathe or graze livestock around the area. Authorities are also investigating and clarifying the responsibilities of individuals and organizations involved.
