Investing in the development of products that meet OCOP certification standards.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Khiem, co-founder and Deputy Director of Vinseed Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Cam Le District), said that currently, the company's "Dr. Trung" brand is present on the market with 30 product lines including cordyceps, herbal tea, bird's nest drink, honey, etc. The company has two products that have been recognized as 4-star OCOP products at the city level since 2021: Dr. Trung freeze-dried cordyceps and Dr. Trung cordyceps honey.

“With this certification, we can easily access sales channels and increase brand recognition. The company has many distribution channels such as: e-commerce platforms, more than 50 agents nationwide, online retail via social media and supermarkets, and specialty stores. We are focusing on developing raw material areas and building new factories in the Cam Le Industrial Cluster, thereby establishing international standards to ensure export conditions; at the same time, we are working with foreign partners to promote trade in markets such as the US, Europe, Australia… Recognizing the potential for widespread use of cordyceps, we are confident that we will successfully export to these markets,” Mr. Khiem informed.

Meanwhile, the baked coconut cakes of My Phuong Food Co., Ltd. (Hoa Vang district) have gradually conquered the international market, exporting to more than 10 countries such as China, South Korea, Japan, the United States, Poland, Russia, and the United Kingdom. The company has a factory with an area of over 1,000m2 and a production capacity of 1,500 tons of products per year. Recently, My Phuong Food has developed new product lines including: Cocool durian coconut cake, Cocool coconut cake, Cocool mango coconut cake, and Cocool coffee coconut cake to diversify its product range.

These are also the four products that the city has just evaluated and ranked as 4-star OCOP products in 2025. Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi, Director of My Phuong Food Co., Ltd., shared: “This time we are launching a product line with improved and enhanced flavors, methods, and recipes. In particular, the packaging for this product line is not yet available on the market, making it very convenient for export.”

On the other hand, we continue to invest in infrastructure and modern machinery, with a factory spanning over 3,000 square meters , and improve each stage of production to ensure product quality and quantity; we innovate our products according to customer needs, such as making them less sweet and softer. Because in the export process, many foreign partners ask whether our products have received OCOP certification. Therefore, it is clear how important OCOP certification is for each business entity.”

Providing maximum support for OCOP businesses.

Over the past period, departments, agencies, and localities have implemented the OCOP program in a focused and targeted manner, avoiding the pursuit of achievements and, most importantly, promoting support activities to help OCOP businesses develop to their fullest potential. Cam Le District has a total of 18 OCOP products, of which 11 products have achieved 4 stars and 7 products have achieved 3 stars.

Compared to other localities, Cam Le district ranks second in the city in the number of OCOP-certified products. The locality focuses on supporting OCOP businesses from the registration stage, including building dossiers, declaring product quality, printing traceability labels, registering product barcodes, developing product stories, and documenting product stories…

Within the district, three points for displaying and selling agricultural products, specialties, and OCOP products have been established. In the coming time, the district strives to have approximately 6-8 more new OCOP products recognized with 3 stars or higher. In addition, the OCOP program in Lien Chieu district is developing in a sustainable and in-depth direction; not only increasing the number of products but also improving quality, expanding product categories, and increasing the number of participating entities.

In 2023, the district had 7 OCOP products; by 2024, there had been remarkable growth with a total of 16 OCOP products. Initially, the district mainly had traditional products such as fish sauce, fermented pork sausage, and rice wine, but now it has expanded to many new areas such as processed foods, natural products, and circular agriculture. In terms of management and support, the district has proactively issued plans, implemented systematic OCOP product orientation, strengthened training, and guided businesses in completing dossiers, traceability, packaging, and labeling.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Vu Thi Bich Hau, the city now has nearly 150 products that have been evaluated and classified under the OCOP program. Based on this, OCOP producers have been able to access the city's support policies to invest in and improve product quality. This is one of the successes and effectiveness of the OCOP program after its implementation in the city.

However, businesses need to proactively collaborate to build standardized raw material areas, meeting production needs and ensuring traceability throughout the chain from raw materials to finished products. In addition, they should continue to invest in and complete advanced technology and equipment processes, and apply digitalization to management, production, and sales. “OCOP certification is not only a recognition of product quality but also a driving force for businesses to aim for broader markets, especially exports.”

"Building and developing OCOP brands is a long-term journey, requiring perseverance, creativity, and continuous effort from the stakeholders. Therefore, each OCOP product in Da Nang needs to carry its own unique identity and story of the locality; while constantly improving quality, design, and packaging to meet the increasingly high demands of the market," Ms. Hau emphasized.
