At 11am today (June 15), on Hanoi Highway and National Highway 51 from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, thousands of vehicles were lined up, moving with difficulty.
The most complicated area is from Tan Van intersection ( Binh Duong ) to Vung Tau intersection (Bien Hoa City). The line of cars stretches for kilometers, 5-6 rows, packed tightly on Hanoi Highway, passing Dong Nai Bridge to enter National Highway 51.
Mr. Pham Linh (living in Ho Chi Minh City) said that he left his house at 9am but was still stuck at Tan Van intersection until 11am. Not only that, in front of Mr. Linh's car, there were thousands of vehicles inching their way through Vung Tau intersection to Highway 51.
This resident said that this morning, he was scheduled to go to Vung Tau City via the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway. However, before entering the expressway, the car had to endure traffic jams on Mai Chi Tho Avenue.
“I don’t know if there was any traffic accident or incident on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway, but at the An Phu intersection, the traffic police blocked the way for vehicles to enter. I was forced to turn my car around to Hanoi Highway to avoid the expressway and change my route to Highway 51. But this route still could not escape the traffic jam,” Linh shared.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Xuan An - captain of Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6 under Department 6, Traffic Police Department (C08), Ministry of Public Security, this morning on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway, there were no traffic incidents or accidents.
However, because today is the weekend, the volume of private cars pouring onto the highway to leave Ho Chi Minh City to go to Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Thuan, and Khanh Hoa provinces is too large, causing congestion on this route.
Accordingly, the blocking force at the beginning of the highway, including Traffic Police of C08, in coordination with Traffic Police of Thu Duc City and related units, closed the highway to regulate traffic. The traffic flow was diverted to Mai Chi Tho Street to move to Hanoi Highway to go to National Highway 51... After the situation inside the highway stabilizes, the blocking force will reopen the highway for cars to move in.
"Based on the operating situation inside the expressway, we flexibly organize the opening and closing of the An Phu intersection to divert traffic. At the same time, the opening and closing of the expressway does not have a specific plan but is only implemented based on the actual traffic situation, so it is impossible to notify people in advance to proactively plan their routes," said a representative of the Traffic Police Department.
