Hanoi , November 29, 2024 - Recognizing its responsibility and role in the fight against climate change, Vietnam has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and striving to achieve a net zero emission target by 2050. Among many solutions, developing a carbon market is one of the important keys to help Vietnam effectively respond to climate change and contribute to achieving this goal.
Accompanying the business community as Co-Chair of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) and also being ranked as the “Most Sustainable Enterprise in the Manufacturing Sector” for 3 consecutive years, Nestlé Vietnam, in collaboration with VBCSD and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), organized a sharing session on the topic “ Carbon Credit Offsetting Mechanism in Vietnam and the Roadmap towards the Net Zero 2050 Target ”.

The event aims to connect VBCSD member businesses, with the participation and sharing of representatives of the Department of Climate Change, Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
At the event, businesses were updated with summary information on the results of the APEC 2024 Summit, COP29 Conference, and Vietnam's latest policies to guide and support businesses in developing and implementing appropriate action programs to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung visited the NESCAFÉ Plan farm experience area and Nestlé Tri An coffee processing factory using virtual reality technology within the framework of the event.
This activity is part of the Awards Ceremony of the Vietnam Sustainable Enterprises Assessment and Ranking Program (CSI-100), an annual event to honor the Top 100 sustainable enterprises. 2024 marks the 9th year of CSI-100 and the 7th year that Nestlé Vietnam has accompanied the program. Participating in and applying the CSI Index helps businesses measure achievements and shape sustainable development strategies.

Since the beginning of 2024, Nestlé Vietnam has coordinated with partners to organize many training and sharing programs for businesses, especially units in the company's supply chain, to count, measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These activities demonstrate Nestlé's commitment to supporting the business community in practicing sustainable development, improving competitiveness, and reaching out to world markets.
At the CSI 2024 Launch Ceremony, Nestlé introduced sustainability initiatives such as the transition to sustainable agriculture, regenerative agriculture, and circular economy in production to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain. In addition, the company also introduced the initiative of applying VR360 virtual reality technology to enhance the experience for guests attending the ceremony. These activities raised awareness and inspired action among the business community and consumers.
